    They ground down the cracked/broken one, after taking a mold of my mouth, then installed a temp crown. Then, when the perm crown is ready (its custom made to look like the tooth its rreplacing, sans breaks/crack), they cement it in. You can get different ones. All metal ($$$, strong, but look like shit), Acrylic ($, durable, but not as strong as all metal), or Metal, with porcelan bonded to it ($$$$, second strongest, and look like real toof). I got the metal with porcelan bonded to it.

    I dont know the break down of what costs what. IIRC, the total was about 3500 for all my fillings replaced, wisdom toof removal, and the cracked tooth fixed, with perm crown. The total may have been more. I didnt see it all. My out of pocket cost was 700 bucks. And I was told that I maxed out my yearly dental insurance allotment.
