I always liked the idea of having a window in the back like a 4 Runner, you could just hit the button and drop it. My gen 1 had a huge back sliding window, I could pass my surfboard through the window in the bed...

Has anybody ever had a problem with the gasket rubbing into the paint?

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Like me, after you do it you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. I'm even considering (I'm waiting for the sh-t to fly) cutting the rear cab wall out completely (along with the front bed wall) and having a completely open "walk through" just like the original 1985-6 Nissan 720 Longrider Limited Edition trucks. Yes, the gasket will rub into the paint; you'll have to apply a clear film of some type to the cab.

Boot will trash your paint unless you apply a protective film to the cab.
I'll never run a boot again.
Either a flip-up front window, or unclamp the shell and slide it back enough to clean the glass.

I just slide my Leer back about 6" to clean it then put it back when I'm done. It's not that hard and doesn't take much time. It doesn't get as dirty as you think. I only have to clean it once every 2-3 months.

This is like a month late...but maybe it helps someone else.

Boot sucked, I was able to get them to take my Leer back when I got a 100XQ with a boot. It squeaked so much off-road. I tired sliding it back, compressing it more, using protective film. When the shell was taken off I had some scuffing (prior to the film) in less than 500 miles. Much easier to just avoid the boot and get a removable slider window, which is what I have now on my Leer.

FWIW if you pick up a new one I just windoors. One feature I wish my shell had.
