Xenon is just a very deceptive word... I personally think the word needs to die as it means nothing anymore as it has been replaced by HID. It is a bulb that is direct replacement for halogens, but now is pretty much used to name any bulb setup that appears blue...

A bi-xenon system simply eliminates the need for a separate halogen high beam bulb/lens by either moving the bulb within the lens (drop-in HIDs) or by moving a shield up or down in front of the bulb (projectors; depending on the reflector design) to allow light to escape from the lens in a different pattern.

All of the setups I have had have been dual function hi/low beam arrangements. Having just a low beam provides very little value to me out here in the middle of nowhere. I don't like the projectors as much, especially in low beam, offroad because they do not let any light escape above the cutoff line. I don't get any light up high at like the trees or anything. Sure, if I am the first guy in line and can have my hi beams, fogs, and driving lights on I can see but that isn't always the vehicle arrangement...

FWIW, I bought the same ones Adam bought. So tonite when I got home I found the Amazon invoice. Here is what is on it:

16.4 feet 300 SMD LED flexible strip with waterproof sleeve, 12 volt clear white LED ribbon 5 meter reel by CBconept.

    Waterproof-line-white-1 823088290411 (sold by OPOWAY)

On the reel itself there is what looks like a manufacturer sticker with a lot of Chinese characters but also a part number, LT-FY-3528W-12-60RW-DC

I noticed that the 3528 string is also in the description in both of your links. Makes me think the LEDs are identical for all three of these packages.

Since I have not installed mine yet :)o), I opened the package to see this so called waterproof sleeve. Not sure what I was expecting. It doesn't look sleeved to me. However, the strip, and LEDs are encased in a clear, flexible coating that might seal them up and be waterproof. :notsure:

NYCO has the same LED lights that Mike an I bought. He said they have held up pretty well but they don't stick to powder coat very well

I didn't really know what HIDs were but when I was reading up a little bit earlier I guess Xenon's and HID's are basically the same thing or they tend to run different gas mixtures, with the Xenons usually containing mostly Xenon and the HID's containing a mixture that in some cases does have Xenon in it.

So even the high beams have a cutoff line? I thought the cut off line was basically for your dims so you didn't blind on coming cars.

Looking at the pics the only difference I can see between mine and the water proof is that the little black chips that are by the LED's are bigger on mine, but the solder points on the chips are definitely exposed. It looks like the LED's themselves may be ok, but those chips don't...

I partied with Brant. haha. He has a wife and kids though so it's not much of a party. We drove his RC crawler and baja racer and then watched some the 2nd gumball race on DVD. haha oh and talked a lot of Taco stuff. haha

Mormons don't know how to party. unless it's behind closed doors, then the strippers and coke come out.

k so this might be a noob question, but if I have a 6 pin harness on my truck, do i still have trailer brakes if connect to a trailer with electric brakes even if I dont have a brake controller? So does it send power to the electric brakes just not as much and not as fine tune able compared to having a brake controller.

You need a brake controller to have control over the electric brakes on the trailer.
