Fuck no. Finger tight can get you a wheel off. Severe Overtightening can bust a stud or wheel or rotor or lug.

I have found that discount overtorques the hell out lug nuts. As soon as I get home from any service that requires the wheels to be removed, I immediately untorque and retoruqe the lugs.

They should have one in the store. It's supposed to be weekly matinence.

And like Keith said, a weight could have fallen off, especially if you have after market wheels and they used tape weights. Shit happens a lot.

    You're welcome man!

Yeah, i know what you mean. Somtimes tools arent calibrated like they should be, new guys don't understand that you have to stop at the click or they snap torque shit. Whenever I see that stuff going on, i try to correct it best I can.

Get a torque wrench. It's well worth it.

Saying " i think it's on there good enough" can land you without a wheel, or pregnant girlfriend.

There are some shops too (not discount) that don't even use a torque wrench, they just tighten them solely with the air impact gun.

This. Yesterday was the first time I've ever used a torque wrench on my truck. And it was only for like 6 bolts..

 eh, I guess of the air gun is set to the exact right pressure to get that specific amount of torque, it'll be alright? :notsure:

    NASCAR, anyone?

If it's worth doing, It's worth doing it correct.

I have that too. Works great. It works as a breaker bar as well if you crank up the ft pounds.

I've always just tightened them til they were on there pretty good with the breaker bar and I've never had an issue. I used an impact drill for it too

See that's what we have and use when putting wheels back on cars. I'm not sure of the exact ft/lbs it reduces to. I think it's somewhere around 75ish?

I think most lugs should be around 80. Our trucks are 83 iirc

Another reason for banning Muslims. When was the last time someone kicked in a Yankee town screaming the South will Rise Again and started killing people?
