haha of course. i think ive only seen one tacoma with the shocks facing that way and it was the one from those ^^ pics up there. i guess we'll just see what cycles the best. does the leaf pack nees to be on to get a proper cycle example??

Leaf pack on, all leafs removed except for the main leaf.

^This. And make sure you tighten the axle down on the leaf with the u bolts and spring plates. You will probably need a block of wood to simulate the rest of the leaf pack so you can get the u bolts tight

You won't be able to fully compress the leaf pack on jack stands if you leave all the leafs in.

with SUA the main leaf is the top leaf so taking the others out doesnt change the axle position, it will be the same as where the axle will be when they are in

Technically the axle moves back on bump due to the swing of the shackles. If you lean the shocks back it would follow the swing of the axle closer. Leaning shocks forward is more for links and the path they follow during suspension travel.

It does until the spring is flat. The last bit of travel when its going negative arc it goes back forward

Not all set ups go into neg arch but even so leaning the shocks rearward would be more perpendicular to the suspension travel than leaning the forward. You would get more of a 1:1 ratio leaning them to the rear but it does not "look" correct so most do not mount them leaning rearward. Mounting them vertical as you do would be a better option than mounting forward.

Once again true but with F67's with 12" shackles over the frame they will go negative arc. The problem is unless you have 18" shocks you have to angle one way or the other or sacrifice losing travel. Dan Helton angled his forward with the magic 52.5", I would take his advice

Not disagreeing with you. All I was stating is that if you want to be more perpendicular to the suspension travel you would lean the rearward. p.s Its Matt Helton not Dan.

 I always thought the same thing but nobody seems to lean them back

Whoops, yes I meant it travels forward at droop. I stand by more travel with them forward though.

Again...not true. I get the most travel with no shock at all. :D

My point is this is only true assuming your shocks are your limiting factor. If you only have a 16" shock to play with and your suspension can cycle 18", then sure, you'll get the most travel tilting forward slightly. You can still cycle the same amount with an 18" shock angled backward and probably a slightly taller bed cage.

I personally would never mount the shock angled backwards, but it doesn't mean you'll lose travel unless the shock is your limiting factor.

were gonna try to keep max bed space for hauling shit so the bed cage will be something like matts and i guess the shock position will sort itself out when the time comes
