I've never seen anything like that from a professional automotive shop. Seems to me torque stripe would have been a better alternative. What are they going to use next time...purple paint?

Yes a torque stripe would've been logical and actually prefered. I've been lucky that they have used the same color.

I called Toyota and the service manager said much the same as several on the forum. A pint, plus or minus, should not make a difference in the performance of the tranny. He suggested adding a pint and go my merry way. Valvoline Max Life makes a Type iv synthetic that is rated for the Toyota tranny. I purchased the pump from Napa for $5. I will make the trip to E-City Toyota from Hatteras, 2 1/2 hours, and have them pull a complete service. Thanks guys for the imput.

Well this is partially true. I have a 2012 Pre-Runner 2.7L with automatic transmission and it indeed does have a dipstick for the transmission.

I guess you were just referring to the automatic that comes on the six cylinder. Just trying to clear this up.

just curious is anybody knows if the 4 speed auto on the tacomas has one as well? cause my friend has an 04 4runner with 4.0 V6 4 speed auto, i thought they would have been the same cause the motor looks the same, but he has a tranny dipstick too

    That is what I said. My 2012 2.7L Pre-Runner ( Tacoma ) Automatic ( which is a 4 speed ) has a dipstick for the automatic transmission.

So the answer is yes, it does.

    1. It looks like shit. They turned a 3 year old loose under your truck with a can of spray paint.

    2. It isn't needed as mentioned above there are better methods that actually look like a professional did it rather than the above mentioned 3 year old.

    3. It is mine, I paid for it black. If I had wanted it painted yellow, red or any other color I would do it myself.

If they did mine that way they will be painting it black again.

... ^^^ ... Ditto ... you will be ok ... just do not take it to the drag strip :burnrubber: ... or off road :mudding: or tow a big load before you top it off ... :D

You can top it off yourself with Toyota OEM fluid with a small hand pump.
