The VW key fobs are great, until you lose one and need to replace it. $300. And you have to have your wife drive 30 miles to open the car with the spare.

If you buy one on eBay they can reprogram it for like $60 and rekey it for $20. :D

It was cutting edge 15 years ago, + VW parts are just stupid expensive.

I hate that it doesn't handle like a Lotus, get the mpg of a Prius, trim of a Bently and have the tow rating of a MAC .... for the cost of a Scion! Sheesh ... come on 'Yota!

has anyone figured a way to shut this up? It annoys the hell out of me too. I was thinking about getting a strip of rubber that i can stick on the outside to muffle it a little bit...

What don't I like about the Taco, flimsy metal. Hit a small (very small) branch the other night and it caused a dent similar to a door ding.

My 93 hilux weighed in at 500 lbs more than this taco.

I think Toyota LEANed a bit too much out of this truck.

Was loving my little 4 banger until....

The Charging system light started coming on intermittently a few days ago. Then the Charging Light went to continuous on.

So at this point I called Toyota care and they sent me to the nearest dealer at the time. Two days ago I dropped the truck off. I don't need it til Monday cause I'm back east for my Uncles funeral. coming back home Monday.
Well Toyota service tech called me today and said that there is an issue with the charging system, and they went on to say that the Alternator wires are burnt and that the Fuse box has cracks in it!!!

They say now that they are not going to release the truck until further investigation. They are calling in a specialist to go over the truck. So it is unlikely i'll get my truck back now in a timely manner.

This truck is bone stock and 27k miles which I've put 3006 miles on since I purchased it 6/17 only a month earlier.

I hope all this goes well and that Toyota Care takes care me and this truck. I purchased Platinum coverage and hope it pays off.

So far I don't like the situation. This is my first vehicle bought from an auto dealer and the newest vehicle I've ever owned and I'm a old timer.

Pray for me and my truck and a good outcome.

#1 Tilt steering does not tilt up enough. At the highest setting my thighs still hit the steering wheel when I get in the truck.

    #2 No bed lights.

    #3 No MPG monitor.

    #4 No heated mirrors.

#5 every body loves it. I have to drive everwhere and everybody at work says they want one.

My previous truck was a F-150 Lariat. It had the keypad keyless entry on the door. It'd be nice if Toyota would make that an option.

Man that sucks. I am sure you will be taken care of and if not, complain like crazy until you are. BTW, my great grandfather used to live in Ukiah before he passed, spent a lot of time with him up there in the real 'Nor Cal.'

Double cab complaints/suggestions for future Tacoma

#1 Real A/C & heat vents in the back!!
#2 Better motor with MPG's to reflect (6 speed auto)
#3 Power outlet in the rear seating area
#4 flat rear floor where your feet rest (no hump for drive line)
#5 Move the power outlet to the dash rather than the place your rest drinks.
#6 MPG meter would be nice. We are only in the year of 2012 now...
#7 Sunroof option, heated mirrors, leather seats, heated seats.
#8 In cab power inverter for computers or kids stuff.
#9 Cab lights for the bed.
#10 A lockable tailgate would be nice!
#11 Offer a locking diff for all the trucks not just the TRD off road.
#12 For as much as these trucks cost you would think it would come with it all.

Toyota needs to offer/ match all the equiptment they put in the 4Runner and put it in the Tacomas.

edit: fully boxed frame, disc brakes in the rear

My main complaint is that I wish the overhead visors were thinner so I could stick my garage door opener on it. I have the programmable mirror, but I just wanted to stick my garage door in there like old times lol.

I also wish the outlet was inside the cab so my wife could use it for trips.

I'll base mine on things I like about my wife's Rav4 that I wish my truck had... so it's not like Toyota can't do this shit...

    1) 1 piece key/fob. The Tacoma key is already huge and carrying the separate fob adds no value over an integrated key/fob combo.

    2) Her radio is far easier to use and it doesn't lock me out when I'm moving. It will also download the phonebook off my iPhone and if I remember correctly has call display.

    3) A dedicated iPhone holder would be nice. Having the shifter, cable, phone and junk catcher all in one spot is kind of a pain.

    4) Stereo is kind of weak. I suppose it sounds alright with pop music (respectable bottom end and clear vocals), but for rock and metal there's a big gap in the lower midrange that robs the guitars of their power.
