    Hey everyone, I'm quite stumped... I washed mytruck this evening, it drove fine and everything all day, and ever since I've had it.. I just took it around the block to get most of the water off before I dried it, and when i give it gas its like its struggling until it gets higher into rpms then it takes off normally, acting very sluggish, the only thing I have done differently has been change the oil, but i did that last weekend and the truck has driven fine all week... i put mobil1 5w 20 in it. any ideas?!

    Isn't the oil suppose to be 5W30? :confused: Look on the oil cap it usually tells you the type..... :)

    Yes I understand that, a good friend on mine is a toyota tech & he reccomended that. Why would a prob like that pop up a week later?

    it really doesn't sound like the oil weight has anything to do with it. I don't think thats the problem.....sounds like maybe you got water in your intake? i would just pop the hood and make sure everything looks good under there and everything is in its place. If not take it in....hopefully it aint anything too serious.

    The maintenance required light came on a little later last night too, i hope this is nothing serious.. i havent done anything new that i havent done bfore, i have a volant intake, and i always spray out underneath the truck and in the wheel well every time i wash the truck? the only thing ive done differently lately has been the oil change, and i have no idea what the guy before put in it, so i put in what my friend at toyota suggested. i dont think oil viscosity has anything to do with it, but thats the only thing ive done differently... anyone care to come take a look at it? i can meet but id prefer not to drive too far you know? im in mililani! please! :(

    RCD 4.5 lift, 18x9 BFD, 305/60-18 Mickey Thompson ATZ's, projector HIDs, TRD exhaust, AFE intake, onboard air, led dash mod, train horns.
    I'm no expert nor mechanic but try switching back to your stock intake. Volant might be causing your problems. Might be running too lean, MAF might be dirty like Konaborne said, o2 sensor might be bad from running lean. But yeah, if you have the stock intake throw it back on and see what happens.

    all that light does is turn on every 5K miles to tell you that you need to change your oil.

    just re-set it. there is a how-to thread. it'll come on in another 5K.

    there isn't anything wrong with your truck. unless the CEL is on. which would be a different story.
