I always say aim for the mass....leave it to the snipers to take the head shots, they have the time, you may not.

No I wouldn't fault someone unless they injured an innocent person trying to take a shot that wasn't thought out, or certain that other people wouldn't be injured. Do you not agree with giving him a target to shoot at by lighting up your tactical light to somehow try and get a good shot?

Tactical lights aren't left on. That's what makes them tactical light. There's a momentary switch and a constant switch. You use the momentary switch to locate your target and react. Leaving it on wouldn't be ideal. Although if it served to distract him even momentarily that wouldn't be a bad thing. If I can occupy is attention for a precious few seconds then maybe even more people would have made it. Nobody really knows. Keep in mind that you keep talking about someone returning fire possibly hurting an innocent person... how many people do you think stuck around this guy one shots rang out? I'm guessing there was a rather large void of people many feet in all directions. If you were into firearms you would know that knowing your targets foreground and background is one of the four basic rules to firearm safety. It's one of the very first rules you learn and you drill it into your head constantly after that with every training exercise you do from that point forward. If the shot isn't there... you don't take it. Simple as that. You can't say that shot wasn't there anymore than I can say it was as neither of us was there. Things like this are fluid and I can almost promise that a situation would have presented itself where the shot would have cleared at some point and seconds seem like minutes in these situations. I also would be moving as I train shooting on the move quite a bit. You want to be a moving target at worst even while returning fire.

Yes, I am into firearms so we could ask what ifs all freaking day. All I'm saying is that you probably wouldn't have had you perfect scenario and I guess I'm glad the trained law officers were present instead of untrained citizens with a fire arm and CC permit. Also just glad more people weren't hurt!!!

This is the exact sort of statement that pisses me off. Only LEO's can save lives and everyone else should just get rid of all their weapons because they're dangerous. LEO's are made up of different genetics and therefore are the most error-free and perfectly acting individuals in this situations so we should all just call 911 and we will be instantly saved. Did it ever occur to you that some of those 'trained officers' might not be as trained as some 'untrained citizens' ?? You would be amazed actually. I'll take 5-10 CCW holders in the theater at the moment of the attack over LEO's en route to the location 3-5min out any day of the week. Keep in mind they weren't present until probably 3-5min after the shooting started and that is even a faster-than-usual response time. They didn't prevent or save anyone... they apprehended him at his car after he was already done with his crime (this is usually what happens). So, still think that having CCW holders there at the time of the shootings would've been a bad thing?

This is something we can agree on and we should probably end this conversation at this item of agreement.

Technically they were there in 90 seconds. Granted, if one has a weapon and can safely use so until PD arrives then obviously. 180896ad-1549-4082_85ebb4701ece42f7f7a8af95374ae6fa1f0a52bd.jpg

Hey man, you are so freaking angry at almost every opinion you have so calm down and stop misreading what I'm saying. You A. Don't know me at all. B. who knows what kind of training I do or don't have. Take a couple deep breaths and calm it down. I'm having flashbacks of the last time you went on a rant on more than one person in this thread!!!!

90 seconds from the time dispatch sent the call out. The time it took from the moment shots rang out until that was at least a couple of minutes. It's not instant.

I'm relaying what Chief Oats said yesterday in his press conference. "arrived in 90 seconds."
I'm not here to argue or debate. We all have opinions and could of's would of's should of' etc.
    Let's keep it civil

The only assumptions I've making on your training is that you're so adamant about innocent people in the line of fire and if you really are 'into firearms' as you say then you know this is one of the four primary rules to firearm safety. It's rather foolish to assume that I'm just going to act like nobody else is there and start blasting away. Not sure where you've received your training but just because you're not capable of making wise decisions doesn't mean I fall into that category.

    I'm calm as can be.

Now you're digging up the past between a member that has since been banned for his attitude towards others on this forum and I? Ok, seems like a valid point to this conversation. I even ended it on the fact that we agreed on the most important point. Whatever.

You live your life how you see fit and I will do the same. Hopefully neither of us will ever be in a situation that requires a firearm moving forward but I for one know how I plan to address such issues.

That doesn't make me feel comfortable. It's not your right to assume the risk of potentially shooting an innocent person/people.

Actually worst case scenario is you firing at this individual in a dark theatre filled with smoke/gas and you end up hitting an innocent. Potentially killing them. Even worse is if it's a child.

    Straw man argument.

Dude, boasting about your "tactical training" and how you would've "saved the day" in this movie theatre with your tactical light and all this other bullshit on the internet doesn't make you look cool. Shut the fuck up already. As much as you'd like to believe it, nothing you COULD have done would've done anything to make that situation any better. Hundreds of people running and screaming, smoke, gas, dark theatre, semiautomatic fire....just....stop.

"not capable of making wise decisions" dude Ostrichsak. you need to GTFOH!!!! I stated that you shouldn't fire your weapon in such a crowded situation period!!! That's where you need to quit reading what I'm saying wrong. You tend to want to argue at everything, you don't see anyone else getting so heated at other members. You got into it with me over the way I mounted a damn ammo can in my truck for gods sake. I don't understand why you see a reason to argue so much, even if you're very opinionated.
