In the 90's, I build and repaired PC's for a living. Well, I have been out of the loop for some time.

Just a few days ago, we had a huge power surge that fried my entire network including my gaming PC. The PC was a bit outdated, so not a huge loss IMO.

    My Budget: $1,100

What is the best gaming system you could build with my budget?

Please provide links to items you mention.

PayPal tip and +Rep to the person who posts the perfect setup!

    What i'd like to have:

    AMD Processor (3.6GHz+)
    Motherboard
    16G RAM
    7200RPM HDD (500GB+)
    2G+ Video Card W/HDMI Port
Powerful enough Power Supply to handle it all
    Awesome Case
    (Liquid Cooled Maybe?)

I know you're looking for a system, but check out http://www.newegg.com/. They offer a lot of compatible package deals.

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
With the launch of the Ivy Bridge...Sandy Bridge price has fallen. I suggest a Intel 2500K with P67 mobo, 8GB DDR3 1600, GPU, boot SSD, storage HDD, PSU and a cash. $1100 should build you a nice 2500K OC to 4.0-4.3 depending on air or water cooled. 2500K Quad Core beats out AMD Hex and Octo core.

$100 over your budget, but with very good components IMHO. This is assuming you have your keyboard, mouse and Operating System. If you do not, then for a decent keyboard and mouse for gaming ~$150 plus whatever for the OS of your choice. I did not put in an SSD as it does not seem like it will be of actual benefit to you. Also, prices are high for now, though Intel said they will drop soon.

This setup has plenty cooling, much better processor than anything AMD can churn out as of today, 16GB Ram plus you can upgrade to 32GB. As a side note, if you cannot make decide yourself on what you want for a system, water cooling might not be for you. Anyhow, you got plenty USB 3.0s, 1TB Harddrive with 6.0GB connection, Blu Ray drive in case you want to use it as entertainment hub. The video card has a very decent core clock speed and has the HDMI you want, which BTW can act as your audio out as well. It has overkill for powersupply and it is Platinum Certified, which will make it much more efficient.

Hope this helped. If it really needs to be under $1100, and with keyboard, mouse, etc. Let me know... I am actually looking for a few things on Newegg.com and this was a fun side thing to do.

Note: I am making myself an entertainment hub Hackintosh Dual Booter, which casually has specs similar to this.

I always use NewEgg. Best prices around.

That costs far more then my budget allows. Over time time of course. And i doubt my wife would be cool with that. :(

I already have, just wanted to see what others could come up with.

Alianware has some cool looking systems, but they are all overpriced for what you get.

Very interesting. I've always been an AMD fan. All the articles I've read as of late said that AMD outperforms Intel and for a better price. I'll have to do more research about this.

    So you're saying that the:

    Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000 BX80637I73770K
    Item #: N82E16819116501
    $339.99

    Is better then the:

    AMD FX-6200 3.8GHz (4.1GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ Six-Core Desktop Processor for $159.00?

I've never seen a Mac that could compare to even half of the abilities of a PC. I have an open mind though. Feel free to post up this "tight mac" and i'll look at it.

Where did you read that AMD surpasses Intel? Benchmark doesn't lie: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
And what application are you running to need anything more the a quad core? Most games is dual core and some are quad. If you want something that doesn't bottleneck your RAM GPU HDD. Get the Intel. I was all about AMD until I built my 2500k and now I will not go back to AMD.

AMD is not necessarily the fastest product vs Intel. That's not what I was saying. In my experience, if you compare any Intel product that is equal price to any AMD product, the AMD will be better.

Put a $150 Intel CPU up against a $150 AMD CPU and see what you get.

With the stuff that I play, I don't need a super system. Going as high as the budget I've set for myself will allow is more about not having to upgrade for a longer period of time then it is about having a super system.

Thanks for the links man, but I like to build my own. I'd never trust someone else to put a computer together properly. Besides, building it myself is also cheaper and allows me to get better parts for the price.

Your budget allows you to get Intel. So go Intel. You don't want a super high end GPU and RAM and bottleneck it's potential with a low end processor. It's like driving a Nissan GTR with a Geo Metro engine and transmission.

Alright, if you were to build an Intel system within my budget, what would you buy?
