Actually, part of that can be pointed at the Fed.

Subsidies (from the Fed) encourage the sale of corn to ethanol producers, thereby limiting supply available for food.

Without Federal subsidies, ethanol would not be economical to produce for fuel.

The corn crop was/is devastated by the drought. Regardless of whatever happens with supply or demand the purchasing power of the dollar is going down because of Fed policies and manipulations. Everything is going up because of the Fed. The more money that is created out of thin air the less the dollar is worth. Also you do know that the Fed is a private bank right? It's not a government owned bank.

It could be one side raising it right now, but by election day gas WILL be a lot less. It has been the past 3 major elections anyway. Out of control printing of money & supply/demand are also factors, but I just find it interesting that gas took big dips in 2004 & 2008 around the elections. Maybe coincidence? The public at large seems fairly easy to manipulate.

You got that right. And their memory is very short. Everyone is too busy with their noses in their smart phones checking their fakebook pages. And you are right, when there is an election, things get put off and prices get lower. Again, everything is manipulated now.

speculation and perceived shortages around global events that may or may not materialize. Just watch the markets rise and fall around news of Europe. The weak ( or strong) dollar has a tiny role in the price of gas around the country. The markets set the price of oil, Gas.

yes, a very small part maybe. The droughts are the main culprit.

We were only discussing the lower price of fuel every 4 years as it relates to our V6 engines ;).

The five largest corn growing states right now are producing at about 25%, as compared to last year at this time. Because of the drought conditions.

    I agree

And, the whole thing is a ruse as ethanol fuels are less efficient (less mpg's)

not to mention the auto industry had to adjust the engine manufacturing to accept the ethanol fuels. and it hurt the boating industry big time...out boards suffered, and many plastic/fiberglass fuel tanks failed.

so...another government pushed & subsided program is a joke, and ends up costing the consumer more than it's worth. what's new.

Can someone explain the ethanol theory to me? I really don't know much about it. I did however see a report the other day showing the devastation to the corn industry brought on by the drought. How did Ethanol raise the price of corn more than a 75% loss in produce? I am not attempting to argue, only to understand.
