It is so much more a pain in the ass to redo something, then to just do it right the first time. Fuck you Giant motorsports...fuck you.
I'm done for the day. Out of cutoff discs and on my last grinding wheel.

Started out as just the frame box which was easy and mostly done friday. The misses wasn't having it with me being gone all week so I chopped it up since I had it apart.

I got over an inch more down travel. So much so that I actually need to get limit straps now for the rear.
At ride height it squats a little bit more so I have a little bit more bro lean. Only took it for a put put around town, so jury is still out how it rides.

did you just move the shackle pivot with a new pivot tube and gusset? What was wrong with giants pivot? did they mount it in the wrong spot limiting your potential downtravel?

Truck looks amazing good job on that thing man.

    I had two problems.
    1) There's nothing wrong with the giant pivot if you aren't flexing the rear. The problem is the pivot is only as wide as the frame. I had to trim the sides of the frame because the shackles kept rubbing the frame anytime I flexed the thing out. TC pivots are about 1 inch wider.
    2) Giant is a bunch of fuckwits. Instead of putting the pivot where it's supposed to be (52.5" strait line back from the front spring mount), the passenger side was 56.5, and the driver side was at 57.5". Not only did this limit downtravel, but it prematurely flattened the springs, contributed to the damn taco lean, and generally made the truck ride like shit.

wow, what a bunch of twats. Wrong mounting spots is one thing but an 1" off between sides is hainus.

And i'm not a fan of how narrow they set everything up either but i've yet to hit frame just prerunning. I'd surely hit if i used it for 4by use like you though.
That must have sucked balls working upside down w/out the bed off...but you did the damn thing

Thankfully the twats got the front mounts dead nuts perfect. As for the side to side off by an inch, i couldn't believe it myself. I measured over and over off different points of reference to figure out wtf was going on.
And yes, working upside down sucked. I cut some of my bed so I could raise the bed off the frame about 6 inches to get a little more working space, but yes, sucked a fat one. The welds aren't the prettiest in the world, but they'll hold. Nothing a can of flat black didn't fix anyway.

    I warned you. ;)

Sadly, yes, which is the reason I'm so anti-Giant. Rear end was done and paid for by the previous owner. They can make a pretty weld, no arguments there, but they fucking suck. Aside from narrow shackles, clearanced frame, wrong (and mismatched) mounting points, they are pricks to talk to on the phone. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day trying to get some information about my truck, but I'll never do business with them on principle alone.

Anthony met the owner of Giant in person at their shop picking up some stuff and they are pretty weird. Giant is great if you have a beamed and linked Ranger, but I wouldnt put their shit on my yota. Just my .02
