No, I only brought up that there were those who say that their rights to bear arms was entrenched in the constitution, yet they felt he shouldn't have a trial, even though that, too, is entrenched in the rules. Then I was trying to be facitious when I said a trial was a waste of time, since there can be no doubt it was him.

 

Maybe you should have typed slower...

 

When someone walks into a movie theater saying hes the joker and open fires on families, we dont need to go through the motions.

So you are saying he is not guilty by reason of insanity? That he should go to a mental institution instead of prison?

 

I think what he's saying is that he should just be executed without due process, which, even though he committed an outrageous, heinous crime, he's still entitled to.

I'm gonna say this James Holmes guy knows the system, and will work it to his advantage. The court system probably isn't ready to deal with a mass shooting suspect who literally gave himself up....most of them don't! But to throw a wrench in the system, James did. And its creating questions in peoples minds.

I was thinking today of all the mass shootings we've had recently. Certain ones like the IHOP shooting (targeted service members with automatic weapons), the salon shooting (had body armor and automatic weapons), and Columbine (body armor, pipe bombs as secondary devices, and shot guns all wielded by high school kids)....

Yet, when a man targets a theater on a movie opening night with body armor, legally purchased weapons and some easily accessed explosives, its suddenly a huge political deal, conspiracy theories ignite like the CO wildfires and people are all up in arms.

Where's the cut off point people? What makes this one man's murderous rampage any different then the ones I mentioned?

Just food for thought.

My neighbor was a daytrader and was in the 2nd daytrader office that Barton shot up. They talked to Barton seconds before he went into the (enclosed) office and shot the people there. Minutes later, he shot at her (after killing others in enclosed office) but missed her and left powder burns on her face. He was shooting 2 pistols at once and missed her with his left handed shot.

A common thread here, as with many shootings like this is: ... the killers feel like they have "blown it in life" (financially, emotionally, socially, etc.) and they can NOT cope with that.

In the end ... they either kill themselves or try to get off by being "insane" ... and in most cases ... they were actually cowards.

They must be processed through the legal system ... but I will NOT shed a tear if they kill themselves ... like Barton did.

I think you're right. Usually it's either, "I'll show them" or "I've been a loser my whole life, I'm going to be famous for something". I'm curious about this guy. The fact he booby-trapped his apartment kind of throws me. Also, they usually want to go out in a blaze of glory, but he obviously didn't want to die. That, and he acknowledged going to prison, so it seems by his Friend Finder post. Maybe he figured he couldn't make it on his own, so he figured he wanted to sped the rest of his life having someone else take care of him.

 

Hopefully bubba does take good care of him
