What is everybody's opinion on these areas? The girlfriend and I are shopping around for a place to rent and there are a few places out this way for decent prices.

I had heard crime was on the rise in Metrowest and with my girlfriend living with me, that makes me nervous as she likes to go for runs and stuff after work.

There is a sweet little condo at Park Central, which from reading about it and looking at pictures seems pretty nice, but it's in that same general area.

I know there was an abduction/missing persons in that area - I honestly forget the woman's name. Shame on me. Then of course there was Jennifer Kesse in 2006. Not that I don't think this can happen anywhere, just puts me on higher alert.

If anybody has any opinions or knows anything I should know about those areas, I'd appreciate the input.

    Thanks!

    Fink

There is some high $ places on the W side of Orl... But I just do not like that side of town,,,,,,--- Baldwin park where mgrande is,, is I think one of the best places in Orl. Not high bucks but sure no crime hill's...There are alot of young police that live in there so cop cars sitting here and there,, might be better for peach of mind for someone out at dusk.. Jim

what are you looking to spend? The metrowest park central area is safe. Every where has it's problems. Stay away from raliegh st. in metrowest. The lk. Debra area is cool tho.

I would stay away from the Millenia area. There are apt's and homes out here in the Windermere are that would be perfect for ya. There are apt's out here on Maguire I forget what there names are but they are nice. Maguire and roberson.

Thanks for the input man! Baldwin Park is nice, just doesn't seem like there is much available over there. I'm really hoping to find a townhouse with at least a one car garage.

I was hoping you'd chime in!

I'd rather not spend more than $1,500/mo. All we need is a 2/2. I'd rather go smaller and get a nicer place/location than bigger and have to worry about the area.

We are going to see a badass little 2/2 unit at Park Central tomorrow. Only $925/mo. and the thing looks brand new, from the pics anyway! Tiny unit though. Only like 900sq. ft. but still a 2/2.

We checked out some townhouses/condos/apartments in a community called Visconti in Maitland tonight, during the 45 minute hurricane we had. Great little spot! According to the web, the crime is not bad over there. You can literally throw a rock and hit the Maitland Police Department HQ so that is likely why.

Haven't checked out Windermere as I assumed the prices would be too high.

Thanks again for the input guys!

I love the house we are in now but it's just too damn expensive. Plus, it's my brother's place and there is always politics when you rent from family. He's also my boss, so that just adds a whole 'nother level.

It's also a 4/3 which is just way too much house for us. I use one room as a man cave and the other two rooms just have beds in them, nothing else. I am too cheap to furnish all of them. :D

I ended up checking those out but they didn't have any available for the next 60 days except for a few small 1/1s.

We ended up finding a sweet spot in Maitland. Only about a 15 minute drive to work and still close to all the places we usually go. Price was right and the community is badass.

We're stoked to get back in our own place and to save on our electric bill. Our OUC bill was $271 last month.
