Thats so crazy that water could do that. Was the water almost up over the hood?

I dropped my spare a week ago and never got a chance to put my stock wheels and tires next to my new ones. rolled it over and plopped it next to the new ones and was suprised at how close they were in size, maybe an inch or less. I figured it would be a noticeable difference. I am hoping that ill be fine with my 16" 265/70/16 spare. Anyone else have thoughts on running the OEM spare with my setup?

I think you will be find in the event that you get a flat as long as you don't drive with the different size tire on there for too many miles

I think it has to do with the gears, diffs and transfer case... It really messes them up if you run a significantly smaller tire on one corner (ie a 265 among 285) but I think you should be fine

He is a good guy. Glad that worked out.

My cousin the tire guy said that 1" or less difference should be fine. Just try to not run it in 4WD for too long. The issue as that difference gets bigger is the spin rate in regards to the other wheel on the axle. it primarily affects an All Wheel Drive car or someone in 4WD. Different spin rates can bind up diffs and cause carnage.

Your better off than me. My spare won't fit on the fronts because of the 6" lift (tie-rod or spindle wont allow a 16" rim to fit). I would have to remove the rears and move them up front and put the spare in the rear. Oh well.

EXCELLENT!!!! thanks for the info guys.

One other thing to ask is if i get the flat in the rear, would it be better to run the OEM spare up front since its a rear wheel drive truck?

Thats what i figured thanks bob!!! I was only worried about getting a flat in the mountains and then having to drive all the way back to denver before getting it fixed.

Anyone try and use the tire plug kit on the duratracs? I used to have one in my car and might pick one up for the truck. I carry a viair compressor in the truck for emergencies as well.

Best thing to do is is eventually get the same size spare to now worry about it in case of a flat . I also always carry a air compressor and plug kit just case.

    This
Nice kit but not cheap. I just bought the oversized plugs and repair kit at O'Reilly's and tossed it in the truck. This is much cheaper and you can then save your money for a spare. You can always go talk to my cousin for a used one that will work.
Why helllllooooo stranger (no homo). I want UCA's too but I think I am done for awhile. Got a new bug tonight and have a feeling I will be sinking some money into self protection. :D
