Either way, most shock internals are very similar no matter who's sticker is on them, with the piston being the exception.

What causes a shaft to pit? Downsides to running a shock with a pitted shaft?

Couple shocks, some old tires, and a bad paint job
Hitting things that you shouldn't be hitting or rocks in general flying from the tires. Pitted shafts can cause the shock oil to seep through but it has to be pretty bad.

For bumps they're $70. I remember reading somewhere that they're around 80 per shaft for shocks.

Hmm, so im running 16" rims but they rub a little bit on the caliper so i have spidertrax 1.25s(I'm really against spacers especially on a prerunner).
    option 1: keep the spidertrax

option 2: get 1/4" spacers and extended studs

    option 3: leave it until i get new rims(probably a year+ away)

    option 4: grind the calipers

I'm leaning towards option 2, if so what kind of studs do you recommend?

    Ha
Shouldn't be that much, thought it was more like 50 for shock shafts, but that was a few years ago

I could be wrong as well, but they are in that range.

    How much are extended studs?

If I go to 35's what would I need to regear to?

    2002 4x4 v6 5 speed. 265/70/16 stock size tire.

4.56s or 88s but 56s would be better for mileage and stuff. I'm running 88s and 35" generals(heavy mofos) and my RPMs are pretty high on the freeway.(3000ish RPMs at 70MPH) and im getting 12-14 MPG.

    I think I am 4.10 right now.

I am running 265/75/16 or like a 32 inch tire.

Would 33's or 35's be better? and if I did 33 should I still regear?

    265s are more of a 31" tire. 285s are 32-33"

With 4.10s i wouldn't regear for 33s. My truck was decent when i had 33s and stock gearing(3.65 or .75).
35s are gonna be way harder to clear but I've always loved the look of having a low/wide stance with big tires.

I thought I had tons of clearance too man :p You wont have issues in the rear but up front my inner fenders are cut/beat to crap to clear 35s at full lock/full stuff.

I've heard that fitting 35s on a first gen is like fitting 37s on a 2nd gen.

hahaa I have seen it done on a supercharged pre-runner first gen when we all went to ocotillo in Feb.

But yeah maybe 33's would be best with a mild regear just for the sake of it to 4.56

Its just gonna take alot of work to fit them, it would be badass though.

I know RJ runs 4.56s with 33s and hes happy with them too:)
