Do these make much of a difference when hooked up to the stock stereo in the taco, or do they need to be matched with a good aftermarket stereo?

 

They will sound better than stock, but an aftermarket head unit will make a world of a difference.

Sorry they don't, but if you have a jigsaw and some mdf, they are really easy to make.

 

I changed my head unit and i still dont get a lot of volume from the speakers, i dont know why.. if somebody can tell me that would be awesome..

 

It's because you need a nice set of Boston Acoustics components. More watts = more volume

 

Yea I heard that but then somebody told me that it has something to do with the amp with the JBL shit that the taco comes with ,so I just dont want to change the speakers to have them not work anny better. If anyone has done this with good results plese chime in..

 

I have these in my truck, ran them off of my aftermarket jvc in dash nav. Sounded kinda weak but after i ran these off of my amp it was a huge difference an they sound amazing compared to the stock stereo

so will they fit a tacoma or do we have to get out shop tools out to make that happen

 

They will fit, but you will need baffles to mount them. It takes maybe 30 min if you have a jig saw and mdf board.

Bump for a good set of speakers. with the JBL system you'll need an adaptor that bypasses the amp. I have them in my truck and they are awesome!

 

Volume is affected only by the RMS watts going to your speakers. typical stock stereos put out about 10w per channel, most midrange aftermarkets are from 15-25ish per channel. these speakers are peak about 80w RMS. Which means to get peak performance and most sound quality/volume you'll need a secondary 4ohm amp to push them.
