Talk to me about "taco lean"

mine is about a 1/4"...

does this mean I need an 1/8" spacer?

raising the left side 1/8th may tilt the right side down 1/8th, thereby leveling the truck front? do I have this understood correctly?

also, where do I get the spacer? and do they work out OK with the 5100's?

sorry for all the questions...but you guys have much more experience on these things than I. TIA.

 

smallest spacer is the 1/4" toytec.

the OME trim packer might be less but i dont know off hand. to install this option you need to disassemble the shock.

 

I know you can buy them from toytec website, some people also sell them on here from time to time. they also work fine with the 5100's

Not sure about the 1/4, 1/8 spacer though.

 

I don't think there is anything you can do with the stock suspension. I believe you have to have a lift to use the spacers. I know you do with the OME trim packer.

maybe I'm over-thinking the mechanics of raising one side and the effect on the other. maybe the right stays put.

 

you dont have to have a lift to use toytec spacers. if you think about coil lifts such as OME or Eibach reuse the factory top plate.

 

you could go to a metal fabricator and have them make you a 1/8 inch spacer too

 

for that you would go to a machine shop or fab place to laser cut some steel and drill 3 holes in it

 

But then if he used a 1/4" spacer he would have the same problem on the opposite side. This would have to be a custom plate from a machine shop. I know about them using the factory top plate I have an OME lift on mine.

 

The OME trim packer only works on OME shocks

I went to the Toytec site and want to buy the spacer...

but they only have the 1/4" and it says it provides a 1/2"of lift?

I have exactly 1/4" of lean on the drivers side.

I think its how much the spring compresses. Like how a 1.5 spacer gives 3" of lift

 

Exactly. The 1/4" top plate provides 1/2" inch. I ordered mine for the taco lean. It will correct it and bring it up to the same height as the passenger side. I tried installing mine, but couldnt get the nut to thread on the stud.

 

I can cnc cut custom spacers if you guys are interested. 3/16, or 1/4". Can be stacked to get 3/8, 5/16, 1/2", etc(I believe around 3/8 is Max before longer top plate studs are necessary)
As you've found, you get around double lift from the spacer thickness due to suspension geometry.
