'05+ One Piece Driveshaft

Made by Northwest drivetrain, here in Houston. Made for the 4x4 V6 with the Manual Transmission. I had it made for my truck when I had the Pro Comp 6" lift. I have used it with the truck lifted and at stock height. It will work with either.





It is a 3" diameter, one piece drive shaft. Steel. Very nice, and weighs only 29 pounds. Feels like less than half that of the factory one.

Currently it is shy of one one mating flange. It had to be used when I had my aluminum one built since the place originally installed the wrong flange.

I am selling it because I did a T56 transmission swap, and can no longer use this one, thus why I had the new driveshaft made.

Price new is $468. I will sell for $300 + shipping, with out the flange. Or $350 + shipping with the flange.

 

Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of this? Free bump as well

 

Less drive train rotating mass = free'd whp/wtq; less moving components, and parts to wear out, I.E. Carrier bearing; easier to remove and re-install when working on any part of rear drive train, including clutch. Lovely stickers to make sure re-alignment is correct, if pulled out of slip yoke, unlike factory; has slip yoke grease fitting;strong - told it is good for 600 whp.

Very interested? What about with an 8idea inch lift? Still long enough? I would like 2get a single piece driveshaft to get rid of some vibes. Check on shipping to 26726

 

Also is this for a double cab?

 

I forgot to mention that, mine is an Access cab. As long as yours is a Double Cab short bed, it will fit.

I am not sure if there is enough spline length in the yoke to stretch for an 8" lift? You would have to get a measurement of the flange to flange length on that, then I could measure mine, and make sure that there is still enough spline in the yoke.

I have a Tom Woods one-piece and I can tell you a one-piece drive shaft is awesome if you plan on pulling a lot of travel. The carrier bearings on our stock 2-piece driveshafts are very problematic. If you plan on using your truck in the dirt at all, this will be a great investment.

Manual tranny only, huh? I have auto, but I'm looking for a one-piece to finally rid my truck of the crappy take-off shudder and OEM slip yoke truck-lurch-at-a-stop headaches.

Large made the purchase. Did the install with him as well as a test drive right after. If he sees this thread, he can elaborate more, but he said the the low speed/take off vibrations were gone. As well as the 20 mph vibration. He seemed very pleased.

Definitely. Had them make two driveshafts for me so far.

Here is a comparator. The Driveshaft Shop (performance known) sells an aluminum driveshaft capable of 800 whp for ~$800.

Northwest Drivetrain on FM 529 sells the same for $475.

They have always been very fast to turn around a driveshaft, or order flanges. Say like the one I ordered so Large would have a complete DS. 1 day.

They were recommended to me, and I recommend them to anyone.

 

Yea, I recognized the name of the shop. You're the 2nd person to have said good things. I'll keep them in mind for the future.
