there's something else in your pricing... markup isn't that high and the dealer isn't going to sell the car at that kind of loss. there were probably some sort of factory incentives, etc. going on. in a very rare case you can be the one guy at the end of a month that happens to push their holdback way up, but the chances of that are slim and none... or the 32/33K your stating had another dealer markup on it and wasn't moroni (msrp).

dude i was in the car business for a long time and after reading the first post, i thought you got a reasonable deal. For example if your out the door was ~$33,500 then you paid probably around $31,500 before tax and tags. Why dont you post how much you actually paid for the truck itself before tax and tags. OTD pricing is bullshit bc there are so many variables including sales tax allowance for trade in, down payment, sales tax rate, documentation fees etc etc etc.

For your reference, i paid $29,900 two months ago for a TRD O/R DCSB 4x4 V6 Auto with tow, DRL and the floor mat kit. sticker was like 33,500 or something.

But my entire post doesnt change the fact that you're a jerkoff. Dont come on here fighting everyone with a defensive attitude.

OH BTW, i bet you're glad you paid a couple thousand dollars for the navigation, when you could have easily saved the money and used your iphone for the three times a year you're going to need it.

let's all move on...nothing to see here.

I live in Canada, so I got ripped off. Fortunately, not living in my mom's basement and having a life, I've got other things to make me feel good about myself besides pretending that anyone cares if I'm a smug douchebag.

    Oh, and welcome to TW.

None yet but soon all black.
Sorry to bust your bubble but yes you paid way to much. I would have paid maybe 30,00 for the truck but that's all. I got my Tacoma in 2011 brand new sr5 dc tow package 4x4 in mass for 25 even. The sticker price was 29,500 and I got down to 25 easy. They ripped you off. Now I know different states have different pricing and all that crap but they could have gone down much lower. No matter what car you buy, the dealerships can always go down 2 to 3 thousand off. Its the way you talk with them. Go to them and tell them you have a set price and don't bulge. Then leave. One of the dealers will call you back and give you the deal. I went to the first one near my house. I said I want a new truck and not paying over 25,000. 30 mins later taking with them, I got down to 25,000 and I happy. I got 4,500 off sticker price.

well... if we're going to have this discussion....

the way you buy a car is you find out how much it cost the dealer and work your way up from there. msrp is irrelevant... "how far below" msrp is meaningless (not entirely i realize...) if you don't know what the dealer paid. now days it's pretty easy to find out - in fact, ever car i buy i get a copy of the dealer invoice. toyota pads their dealer invoices with items they refund to the dealer - they're not too hard to spot near the bottom...

and talking nice, etc. - don't ever bother - call the fleet manager at the dealer who has the car you want - ask them their lowest price/request a copy of the invoice - and only you can decide how much over their cost is a good enough deal for you.

oh, and research if there's currently any factory incentives too...

    I have the hose-clamp tailgate lock :-) best $3.14 I've ever spent
I wouldn't say you got a "deal" but I also wouldn't say you paid too much. It really depends on what part of the country you are in. Some guys might say "I got mine for $28,000" but what they're leaving out is " I live in a place where the average income is $35,000/year." In places where incomes are high, demand for high quality trucks are high and as a result the dealership doesn't need to negotiate. At the end of the day the market sets the price. I don't care how good of a negotiator you are, the dealership is not going to sell it to you for less than it's worth to them.

There are hundreds of variables factored into price, implicit and explicit. At the end of the day we all want to feel like we got a good deal. If you're happy, then you got a good deal :)

Edit: for anyone who says "i would have paid" or "i got mine for [unrealistically less]" go ahead and buy another one and sell it to OP for less than what he paid... some of you, apparently, could make substantial windfall!
