Thought hard about getting an ATN first gen, like an Aires or something, but I haven't tried them out and we cant hunt with NV here anyway. Would only be able to use it in TX on hog hunts. Would go sweet on my suppressed 300 BLK.

Man, if we could get suppressors here I'd blow a load. Cant shoot more than 1 round anywhere on the island without someone calling the police :pout:

but using NV is ridiculous. I literally just sat down and watched them for a good 10 minutes before deciding which one I wanted to take

Right on. If we could use it here, I'd be knocking on doors. Sometimes farmers will get permits to take destructive deer...I've not looked into it but I think even then you can't do it with NV. I'd love to get up into a hay loft with this thing and help protect some crops...stupid quiet.

And it works on the AR, too.

The funny part of this statement is that Primary Arms AND Bushnell are cheap optics.

They both have decent online reputations (as "good" cheap optics). Look at Vortex. About double the price, but better reputation, lifetime warranty, and made in the US.

Yeah I know they are both cheap optics. A friend of mine has the Vortex and loves it. As far as the irons I went with Matech.

I own a Vortex PST 1-4x and a 2.5-10x. I have a 6.5-24x on order. Amazing scopes for the $$. Only real upgrade in my opinion would be to go to super-premium optics: S&B, Nightforce, US Optics, Vortex Razor, etc. at over twice the price.

that site seems to be over priced on the magpul stuff.
    check out this site.
    http://dsgarms.com/ProductInfo/MGMIDMOEDE.aspx
cheaper and comes with more parts, sell the handguards and make some money back.

if you really want a vert grip check ebay. lots of people selling KAC grips for like 8 bucks..

If you are shooting from a bench I would suggest a good rest (shot bag, or tripod rest). if you are in the field laying down or shooting from the hood of your truck and need support then go for the bipod

also for your upper, check out PSA. great prices. you can also add rails or other options to almost any upper you want
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers.html?p=1

this would be a comparable upper, just select the options you want on it

    Ok soo...

First build time for me. Saving up all summer and wanting to order this stuff before i go back to school. Reading all over the place has been fun and informative but i figured it would be easier to just come here and make sure my shit is straight.

Im liking the PSA stuff like said above. So...

The upper half including the iron sights, charging handle, and the BCG when it becomes available again...
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ar-15-05/complete-uppers/psa-16-m4a1-upper.html

    The lower build kit...
    http://palmettostatearmory.com/inde...tto-state-armory-classic-lower-build-kit.html

and obviously a PSA stripped lower reciever to tie it all together.

Now to everyone who has done this or knows what theyre talking about, help me get to the point that i can say "i know what im talking about".

Is this all I need to finish the rifle?

I would just buy one of the complete diy kits that you just need to buy the stripped lower for but they always seem to be sold out at PSA, Delton, and the others seem too steep. I feel like if i buy it this way its what i want and a couple bucks cheaper.

That's everything you would need. Buy a delta-ring tool and and an AR tool for cheap off Amazon or something along with everything else and you're GTG.

Delta ring tool? Strong man that shit! Haha

Also hit up your local hardware store and get a set of punches. They help when assembling the lower.

    No shit.

Pulled the OEM guards off of my 20" upper and replaced them with a set of old triangular guards I snagged. Didn't use any fucking tools.

Haha so no on the delta ring tool for right now... Will any generic punches do the job? I assume so...
