I am sure, but i just wanted the peace of mind...I think the labor was only $500 for front and rear.

 

2 per side +1 to make beer/food runs haha.

 

rear is easy in my opinion. just unbolt the drive shaft, the axles but u can pull them out with out pulling all the way out, and the bolts to the diff and pull diff out.

the front is a bitch. remove cv axles and everything in the way of removing them then playin god damn tetris to get the clam shell out of the way

 

i would do the rear first, since that should be quick, then do the front. and worry bout the compressor at the end. plus u could do that on your own at your convienence and run the air line however u feel like it. u can see how i ran mine whenever we do this

 

Yeah, i knew you guys had fun with the front diff, and i heard a lot of horror stories so i wanted to have the insurance of the shop to do the install.

 

And 4 new bolts

 

I was thinking he did the entire assembly and we'd just swap em out. I guess that would be a shipping nightmare!!!

 

only need one, used 2 and the other 2 were too long

the only reason it took us as long as it did was becuase it was the first time, havin to get new bolts which took like 2 hours since Burry lives in BFE. also, tryin to get the compressor mounted. that was a bitch also cuz of fitting 10 pounds of crap in a 5 lb bag

 

Speaking of that, I'm going to need a tools/parts/materials list needed for the job

 

i got the whole front diff sent to me. but takin apart your whole front end, and fuckin a bolt up and havin to go find a new one was the problem. and it was our first time, plus there was one bolt on top that holds the diff breathers that barry couldnt get his dick beaters on

also, shipping wasnt so bad. they sent me a shipping label, i reused the box they sent and took it back to ups and sent it off. they did laugh at barry's taping of the box tho

 

we will have everything. basic tools and jack and jack stands we already have

Would it be worth upgrading from 4.10? Im looking to up my tire size sometime down the road to 275/70 or 285/75.

Let me know when we do this so I can get an idea of how its done (I dont think two gear changes in one day is going to fly though...).

 

uh no. altho, 1st gens are easier to swap the front diff than second gens.

 

I am thinking about getting Icon coilovers. How difficult is the install?

 

install pretty easy, alignment...take to a shop

 

Any special tools needed? How about the spring removal?

 

Its a pretty straight forward job, no spring compressor required. are you getting their UCA's(upper control arms) too?

 

No, the reason I am doing this now is because I am installing a Brute Force bumper and I think I will need the adjustability of the coilovers to compensate for the extra weight.
