I'm running 285's with minor rubbing on the plastic trim. I have stock UCA's but aftermarket wheels with a 25mm offset. This moved the rim outward a bit and gave me the clearance I need. I haven't trimmed anything yet as it only rubs when I pull into my curb driveway too fast lol. I have taken it boulder field crawling and I still can't tell where i'm rubbing totally (as in not leaving any marks). Im defiantly not touching the cab mount, there is zero rubbing there. I am running Hancook Dynapro MT.

There's not enough bandwidth for what's happening.
I would replace the UCA's, rub or not. I had a 2" lift with my previous coils and ended up chewing up my 265's due to alignment issues. Alignment was all in the green, but it wasn't good enough.

My truck is a totally different ride now with the LR UCAs and proper alignment. It's a small price to pay to protect the $$$ invested in good tires.

Im running 285/70/17 on a 3 inch lift and all I had to do was take my mudflaps off. Only time tires rub is at full lock in reverse. I've got aftermarket wheels though. I've heard that helps a lot mine have a -12mm offset and 4.5" backspacing

With the 2.5 inch lift will the 265/65/17 tires require a cab chop too?

Lift has no effect on cab mount chop unless it is a top plate spacer. But no, you should not need one with that tire and factory UCA.

If you want the larger tires, ask your dad.
If he says yes then tell him what you need to do to fit them. Usually ditch the mud flaps, because they will get ripped off eventually, or melted against the exaust pipe like mine did. The trimming really sounds alot worse than it is and is only on the front end. I trimmed (on both sides) the strange black plastic bulge at the front bottom of the wheel well off and the back colored lip on rear of the well next to the cab mount. A sharp utility knife cut it like butter. The cab mount chop sounds alot worse than it is too, its just taking away some excess non-load-bearing metal from the back of the wheel well and welding a plate over the hole. Look on BAMF's webiste it has pretty good pictures of the process.
Once all is said and done it is not going to look any different from stock, except for your big new tires :D
Just get permission, I wouldn't like it if I found out someone cut my truck without me knowing
