I am installing a Detroit Locker in my Taco next week which brings me to ask if there is any way to disable the ATC as it sure as hell isn't needed or wanted after the locker install.

Yes, I did get it installed, however with Iowa having the least amount of snow last winter I couldn't really put it to the test.
One thing to get used to is the driveline has more slack with the Detroit and ocassionally it will make a bang/pop sound that always takes one by surprise but is normal and don't hurt anything, happened only once in the last 6 mo.
You have to learn to drive with the detroit a little diferently as you don't accelerate hard from a stop making a turn around a corner as you will chirp the inside tire big time.
A detroit is either basically either locked or unlocked with no in between.
Do I like it Yes would I buy it again Yes.
A detroit locker I highly endorse, but not all will agree.

I got a SUPER deal a couple of weeks ago and traded for a Tundra, haven't been able to find a Detroit locker for it yet.
Toyota's traction control system is worthless in mud and snow country.

    Good job captain quick draw.

If a few months there will be the taco limited you should trade the tundra for that.

Sounds like a good option. I don't know about the slack you are talking about though. I feel like my drive line has enough slack as it is.

What was the total cost with install?

The design of the detroit locker increases the slack ( movement CCW and CW) probably because there are no clutches or cones.
This is not a limited slip it is a Locker.
I suggest you go to the detroit web site and see how its explained there as to how it works.
and no I won't go back to a Taco, it's just too small to fit us and the grandkids into, The Tundra works just fine.

I get how they work and know that it is a locker. I currently have an LSD I just meant that I don't like "slack". I posted a poll to get a few other opinions on using Detroits as a daily driver option. My LSD is great for the road but I can't believe how quickly I lose traction on the trails. I just know I won't spend the money on an ARB. Thanks for the input so far though!

I still don't get the captain quickdraw comment...

If your stock system has say 1/8" rotation on the driveshaft (slack/freeplay)the detroit will have 1/2" again because it's all solid no cones or clutch paks.
I had 850 in my set up,500 for the locker 350 install.
