Disabled TPMS light on my 2008

You only cut the Blue wire ( in behind the radio ,after you unplug it from the Red box) The Red wire that you see in the next picture is a short wire with a fuse, that I installed behind the glove box , you will have to hook the Blue wire to a hot wire on a 2008 , and I just ran a wire from the Blue -right over behind the glove box (install fuse link and hook to a Hot wire- e.g. the big Yellow one....... over 200 miles now - NO LIGHT AND NO ISSUES!!!!!

 

I have now went 200+ miles with no light and no issues , All you do is hook the Blue wire to a Hot on the 2007+ models and don't plug the harness back up to the box behind the radio , You will want to add a fuse link on your hot wire and thats it... but this is 2007+ models , if older you will hook the blue wire to a ground.

 

quick ? why do you need a fuse link when you disable the tpms i have 07 i would like to disable it but im a little confused

 

I know this will not carry much impact, but for the record. Tampering with a federal mandate safety system is not a good idea from a legal perspective. If you were in an accident (bad one) and an investigation showed a low tire and no indication, they may go after the manufactorer. If it is then found that you had defeated the system, the liability reverts to the person that did it. Just a thought, not being a goody two shoe.

As far as light behavior, that is in the regulations as well. Flashing for one minute at key on, then going solid, is an indication of a fault. (not low tire) On solid is a low tire indication. The key is to watch behavior at start up.

 

I put in a fuse link to be safe , anytime that I run a HOT wire I put in a fuse link , if your wiring was to ever touch another wire or metal...it will pop the fuse rathar than heat up the wire and catch fire...

 

Just did the above mod on my 07 and worked great, no more orange light. Stoked!

Wonder if you could just mkae your tires flats so pressure is zero and then reset the TPMS.

the same can be said about abs , i was responding to a comment that idiots are the reason we have this crap on our cars now . my new waverunner has more caution labels than graphics .

 

I have two sets of wheels one with TPMS one without....any way of adding a switch to this method so that when I put my wheels with the TPMS sensors in them on I can flip the switch and the system works. Flip the switch off and no light.

 

what ear is your truck.. mine stays on constant and is almost always the spare

 

with some patience you can pull the wire out of the socket that way you dont actually cut the wire and it can be reinstalled at a later time without it looking like it was tampered with .

 

A flashing TPMS light means theres a problem with the TPMS system. A solid TPMS light means theres a low tire. A low tire TPMS light will flash a couple times on start up then go soild. If there has been a problem with a TMPMS Sensor or system for a certain amount of time instead of flashing at you the entire time you drive, it with flash a few seconds on start up and stay soild...

 

I know this thread is a few years old but I was wondering if anyone knew what size of fuse is used in this mod?

 

Anybody try this on a 2010 Tacoma? I wonder if its the same deal.

 

What a joke. I got a pair of Tacoma alloys, they were in a shed getting tossed. I purchased lug nuts, have the center caps... The steel wheels TPMS sensor won't fit on the alloys. The angles are different. Toyota said over 100 dollars each wheel for new sensors. Nice. A brand new truck with a light that sometimes flashes or just stays on. I really do not want to cut wires or tear into my dash. It's just too new for that. I am now researching aftermarket sensors which are way cheaper. Anyone go with aftermarket?

cant you just cut that blue wire, and use a tap connector to tie it into the red/white wire in the same harness instead of running a wire over to behind the glovebox??
