Interesting. How would you get an adequate ground plane with the antenna mounted in that location?

For proper operation (low SWR), a CB (Ham, etc) antenna must be mounted to a sufficiently large (at least a quarter of the radio wavelength) metal surface. This metal surface forms the ground plane, which is a necessary part of the antenna.

The bed & walls of the Tacoma are fiberglass (no metal), while the metal rails are way too thin for accomplish much of anything (radio related). The only option in this case is a no-ground plane antenna (like those used for fiberglass RV's & boats), which rarely perform as well as a proper ground plane antenna.

How about you ask the last 70 guys I sold them too. Its a Cb antenna mount. Its not rocket science. All my buddies that have them have not had a problem. The guys on my race team all have them. And they work fine

Okay, no need to get testy. You're selling the product, so I asked you. And what I said about an antenna ground plane is not my opinion - it's a fundamental fact of radio (look it up). If you insist an antenna mounted in this manner works, then fine. However, I don't see how that's possible without weak signal output and shortened radio life (due to high SWR - another fundamental of radio). However, you say no problem, so I'll let it go with that. Take care.

Thanks buddy I appreciate your info. I just know all my friends have them and they have worked fine over the years. We do a lot of desert races and never had issues. People also use them for other things ( tie straps, mounts etc. )

I just can not send them out until next week when I get back in town. So I am going to extend the group buy until next week Tues. Aug. 7th
I will still be answering e-mails while im out of town
