Just be aware that even though 4WP 'stocks' things, it might not be at the store you want. If Oakland doesn't have it, call San Jose. There are also a ton of other parts places that will carry shocks as well. Carquest and O'Reilly are just two.

I'm near the SJC store and can help you out if you end up this way. PM if you need help.

    • 4 Wheel Parts, 877-474-4821, 1944 E.12th Street Oakland
    • 4 Wheel Parts, 877-474-4821, 550 W. San Carlos San Jose
    • Carquest, (510) 763-3878, 2307 Chestnut, Oakland
    • O'Reilly, 510-652-5318, 4400 Broadway, Oakland

    Good luck!

Valley Truck in Castro Valley might have the shocks too. (A lot closer than SJ too).

I too am in SJ if you need a garage. I'm usually available before 6pm.

I would think 4wp would be your best bet.

But in Santa Clara there is a Toyota specialist that has a ton of older and some newer gen stuff. You might want to give them a call...

wait..you want to do all four corners? so someone needs a spring compressor?

why not just put on the rears..or heck, just one rear, to keep moving?

A rear shock is a 30 min job max and can be done in a parking lot with the truck on the ground. Depending greatly on how rusted on the bolts/nuts are. If they bad he might need a angle grinder to get the old one out.

4wp had nothign in stock at all, im gonna go to autzone and get a cheap gabriel for the blown strut only, and then head to crookbook's garage to do it. we could do it in a parking lot with the tools i have but not all that safely as i only have a bottle jack and hi lift. Then once in socal stop at one of the big suppliers and upgrade there before we head further south into baja.... dont want the other cheap shit struts that are on the truck (po installed) failing down south of the border.

Thanks for everyone who responded ! also anyone want some free beer tonight, in exchange for letting me and my buddy crash on your floor or couch?

Call them, I live about 10 minutes away if you need a driveway.

    Valley Truck - (510) 889-8103

He's actually got a decent sized parking lot and a small garage IIRC and the guy who owns the place, in my experience, might help you out and let you fix it there.

Truck is back in the fight, riding beter then it did before, replaced both rears with some used fabtech's (free from crookbook ! thanks man) and i got an order in at offroad warehouse in escondido for the 4 bilstein 5100's! Already been on the freeways a bit, it sure is nice not bottoming out on speed bumps now hahaha
This has got to be one of the most useful forums on the net! Thanks again everyone and if anyone cares, i have a blog of the trip that badly needs updating (missing like 3/4 of the trip so far) but will cover our trip through baja and what not the link is

Got him back on his journey. Threw in my old Fabtech shocks for nothing. Just old paper weights to me. Drank a few beers and hooked him up with a total chaos discount from off road warehouse in escondido. Swapped a few tips here and there and made a great new contact for CANADA!
