Haven't looked into it yet. Don't you have to leave a key fob in the truck thought to defeat the microchip/ecu deal thing? Not sure I like that....

Yah you do I have the viper smart start so I can use my phone to start anywhere in the world. It's not like the key is just sitting around. It's enclosed in a module behind the steering column.

Oh and it's not a fob it's an actual key you leave in the car. I think my key was 300 to replace? Can't remember I'll have to dig into my receipt folder.

My local york dealer wants 599 for some auto start brand to install they say it will be covered for the same as the bumper to bumper warranty... Maybe that's why it's such a crazy price..

Yeah I don't like the idea of the anti-theft chip thing being essentially defeated.

What is the backspacing on those wheels?

How close is the tire to your UCAs?

Anti theft chip? My alarm is so sensitive that if you sneeze too hard next to my truck the vibration sets off the alarm and is sent to my phone. Last gps location. Plus 2 kill switches. The brake pedal and the hood. And there's a certain way to deactivate it. All preference I guess.

Mine was almost 1k with extra modules and the gps added, including 3 years subscription. Worth it to me

I don't want an alarm, just a remote starter. I'm just not happy that by getting one it makes the truck easier to steal because the key chip is in the vehicle.

If it was easier to steal then they wouldn't provide guaranteed protection. Even the Chevy sonic off the lot has the remote start with a key chip in it. That's why you get an upgraded alarm system, which happens to come with the remote start. Plus if someone stole my truck it would get sent to me phone and I could turn it off lock the truck and set the alarm. Not to mention its basically LoJack on steroids.

I'm not really sure what you are getting at here with the guaranteed protection ans so lojack and so forth. I don't want or need an alarm, nor do I want to pay the extra money for it. The truck is parked in a garage at home and at work. My understanding is that with the OEM key setup, if someone breaks in and tries to start the truck, it won't work because the key is not nearby. Am I wrong on that?

So I've decided not to get a basic remote start system because of that OEM chip system being essentially defeated by placing a key in the truck somewhere.

That's great that you like your alarm, but I'm not in the market for one.

Nice truck. Does your tonneau cover leak? I notice that there's a gap between the tailgate and the cover. Is there a gap on the other side near the cab. About to get one like yours. So I was wondering?

It's got weatherstripping around those gaps. I've never noticed any water in the bed.

Very nice truck! How do you like the Nitto tires in comparison to the dynapros?? Would you go back to the dynapros if you had to buy new tires again?

I haven't noticed any difference so far. The dynapros do look more aggressive imo.
