My 2011 Tacoma 4x4 Sport (short reveiw)

Hey guys,
I just wanted to put out a short review based on me owning this 2011 4x4 Sport Tacoma for 10 months now.

I can honestly say I am satisfied. I hit 29,956 miles yesterday so YES, I have been driving the crap out of this thing. My Toyota Care has now expired less than a year because of mileage. I got a email from my dealer this week about a 30K mile service. It is time for my oil change. I called the dealer and asked how much a 30K service was and they said $325.00. I was like ouch... I asked what it consisted of and the guy really could not tell me anything besides the normal filter and oil change, and them cleaning out the throttle body. So I pose the question for you guys. Is it worth having this done? Does it consist of other services? I would definitely check into that.

Anyway, the truck has been great. No issue's to speak of at all. I had to get a alignment but thats it.

My fuel mileage has been good. I wanted to get 20mpg and I consistantly get 20.7 per fill up. Towing a small 6x12 trailer from time to time it drops to 13 and 14mpg. This raises another question. Do any of you that pull small trailers or jet ski's pull in drive for long periods of time? I have Diesel to pull my big stuff but if I wanted to pull my 4 wheeler or SxS to the mountains to save some diesel fuel $$. With the limited pulling I have done with my Tacoma I have done in drive. I'm looking to pull my Polaris RZRS to WV for a day trip soon. Thats 370 round trip with alot of up hill driving on the highway. I want to pull in drive around 63 to 65 mph. I can't stand a vehicle going in and out of OD. Thoughts??

It is worth doing and yes it includes other services such as replacement of spark plugs etc. just look at your owners manual it is all listed in there. I did my 30k service myself and would recommend you do it yourself. It's pretty easy and if it's your first time there are good write-ups on here for doing it all.

Where in WV are you heading?

 

I ride all over southern WV. Been riding up there for 15 years. It's almost like a second home. One of my best friends has a nice camper set up right above Covel. You might know the area. It's between Matoaka and Herndon WV off HWY 10.

 

Really on the spark plugs? He did say that and I thought that was nuts for 30k miles? My time is limited on line, I'll try and search for the throddle body cleaning.
