Just installed my Wheeler's 5 pack and BPV from Wheeler's and I first notice when even at slow speed over a speed bump if I hit the brakes the rear locks up causing my tires to squeal. This morning I almost ran a yellow light but I stopped from 50 to 0 and my ass end was going left right and tires again squealing. How do you adjust the rod? I know the lower it is the less braking the rear has but what rod am I supposed to pull down on? Thanks.

Raise the BPV with a bracket, there not that difficult to make, if you raised the rear 2 inches raise the BPV bracket 2.

I guess you both don't understand my question. I have a bpv bracket for my 5 pack. I think the bpv bracket raised it to high for the amount of lift I got from the new leaf pack. I need to bend the rod down more = closer to axle = less rear brakes. I just don't know which rod I am supposed to bend down.

So the bracket doesn't have multiple holes to let you select the height of the valve like the BAMF bracket? Everyone just matches the height of the lift and no problems. Can you drill additional holes in your bracket to lower the valve?

There is an adjustment for the valve. I read it in the FSM once, but don't remember if longer or shorter increased or decreased braking.

Edit: here is a link to the FSM. Look at page BR-47. Does that address your problem? Got a pic? Might help us understand.

Post a picture of that BPV bracket.

I don't know how much rear lift you gained but to me it appears the bracket that mounts the BPV is way to high I would measure where I was at before installing the bracket ( rear vehicle height ) and would lower it, as necessary by drilling more holes, not bending or adjusting any thing.

well you think about it if your brakes are locking up on brake application it thinks you are fully loaded and squated out. make the rod shorter so it enters the valve at a downward angle.

I ordered BAMF's bracket but I think I might try not even running one. I got about 1" lift in the rear with the leaf springs. And the generic kit I got was meant for 2-2.5" rear lift.

The only thing that's bad about not raising the BPV is front brakes work harder and wear out faster, probably a safety issue also, save your cash and modify the bracket you already have.

If the present bracket is for a 2-2.5 lift and your only @ 1 inch lift there's your problem.

Meh true. I can also sell this one to someone with a larger rear lift.

Ya that bracket is too high.

My 5 packs only gave me about an inch or inch and a half.

The BAMF one is great as if you decide to add the wheelers AAL later to the pack..just move the BPV up a few holes.

Installing the same set up this weekend, do you think you could just drill a hole above the first bolt on the bottom and mount it that way and it should get you close right?

I haven't gotten a measuring tape to see but it appears the middle solid metal has plenty room to drill two more holes

Well if you get it squared away by Sat morning could you post results please? If not I will just take a stab at it and drill holes in mine until it works !
