Forgive me if this has been asked before...it probably has. I poked around the site a bit and didn't really see much about it.

Anyway...I just bought an '09 2wd Taco, which of course, already has the rear mudflaps. I want front ones. So I called my dealer to price them, only to have him tell me that fronts ones were not available for the 2wd...just the 4wd. So if that's really the case, is there any reason why a 4wd front flap won't work on a 2wd? I don't see why it wouldn't.

I have 2wd and I HAD both pairs of mudflaps (rear and front). They DO sell mudflaps for 2wd's

That doesn't make any sense. i would think they should fit no problem. The dealership is going to rape you on them though. Ask around here , most people have removed their fronts and would probably love to get rid of them. i would give you mine but i destroyed them off roading.

My only issue in question id ground clearance. The factory taco flaps are way too long and do not flex, thus shatter or break over curbs, speed bumps, etc. You should look at aftermarket ones

Might be Prerunner vs base model.

    - Oh, I wouldn't buy from the dealer...just wanted to see if they were available and what they were asking.

    - The base vs PreRunner thing worries me some. Maybe the fender flares make a difference...not sure.

    - I'm not too worried about ground clearance and I'd like to stick with the OEM look if I can.

    - If anyone out there in TW can tell me if a 4wd front flap will bolt up to a base 2wd...speak up...I'm listen'. ;)

    Thanks fellas.

The fender flares do make the difference. The majority of the mudflap clips go into the fender flares, and they are also made to fit over the fender flares.

Thanks for the info fellas. I kinda figured this might be the case. Gonna do a little more research to see what I can come up with.

If someone makes some nice aftermarket flaps that come close to matching the rears, I may go that route. If they don't really match maybe just 4 new ones.

    Any aftermarket suggestions?

I'm in the same boat, I mean truck as you and have not found a front mud flap that works.
