well today i was hoping to start blackening out my taco, first on the list was to go get my front door windows tinted. called around a week ago, and found a place that said they would match the toyota tint. place has a good rep so i thought, why not! i'll pay them to do it! well, i went in, had to deal with a manager that had a foul mouth so bad that even i was shocked, and he tells me that even though i made an appointment i will have to wait for an opening. so i got suckered into sitting around for 45 minutes before they finally got my truck in. asked the guy multiple times how close of a match it would be, assured me a perfect match.
truck comes out and i can see the difference immediately! the tint they did looked like the cheap ass shit you buy from walmart (blue tinge). i figure maybe i am being too picky and decide to pay and take it for a ride to see how it is. i absolutely love the tinted front windows but christ was it ever a big mistake! i turned around and went back to the place and told them i was unhappy with the tint. i had no issue with the quality of work, it was excellent but the tint was by far no match! so the guy tells me now that it will never match nor could he ever match the toyota tint, my only option was to tint ALL MY WINDOWS! offers me 50 bucks to do the rear doors, i try to ask him to throw in the back window for a few bucks more but doesnt go for it. his solution is to pay an additional 150 dollars to do the rear windows!!!:mad:
so i ask him to remove the tint and give me a refund. rips off the tint yells at his receptionist to refund me and off i go!

sorry for the rant but this asshat pissed me off with how much of an ahole he was.

does anyone know of a brand that closely matches the toyota tint? i really dont want to darken my rear windows too much more then what they are now.

You did the right thing because that guy was full of it and you'd never be happy with it.

3M and Lumar are both good brands. I've used both. Lumar is on mine now (look at the gallery) but it's only 27% so it's not an exact match. Factory is 20%, as proven by my tint guy's meter.

I'll second that. Always go for quality name brand tint- I've had llumar and 3M on previous vehicles and each held up well. Can't attest to color match for Tacos but I'm sure you can find a close shade.

No excuse for it not to match. I have the Lumar, and the front matches the back Perfectly. GL.

i cant remember what brand it is but i have 18% on the front, you cant tell a little bit of difference on the inside but outside they look identical.

Yep, I have Lumar 20% on the front, matches the factory rear perfectly. Legal tint in Indiana is 30%, but 20 isn't enough of a difference to get hassled, LEO's will only bother if you have like 5% or limo tint.

I've used the same window tinter for years, she does all the police and sheriff department vehicles for the City of Indianapolis. She's done 6 or 7 vehicles for me, only charged $50 for the two front windows on the Tacoma. If any of you local Indiana guys are interested I'll be glad to hook you up.

I was also thinking about tinting my front sides but then I remembered how much I hated it when I couldn't see the driver and if he waved back at me or not!
