    Well, there was this...
The right to free speech does not guarantee a lack of consequences. He expressed an opinion that a subset of the legal US citizens should not experience the same rights that he himself enjoys and people called him on it.

There would have been the same, if not more, backlash if he came out and said that NRA members should have their right to bear arms revoked.

He can have his beliefs based on religion, ethnocentrism, or simple bigoted willful ignorance, but that doesn't change the fact that legal citizens are being denied basic rights enjoyed by the majority of the population.

    ^^ this

not sure why "Freedom of Speech" is in the title of this thread. nobody tried to deny him his first amendment right to express his opinion, just like nobody is forcing his customers to eat at his franchise

And that louis guy is too used to holding objects close to his mouth. That pic could be shopped with him holding something else, it would show his natural habitat.

First of all, I dont disagree with a word you said. You're absolutely correct, freedom to express you opinion DOES have consequences, regardless of what side of an issue you are on. Just to be clear, the snip that you quoted from my message was not to suggest otherwise. My point was that we are subjected to pro side of that issue every day, so I am.... I dont know.... amazed? Befuddled? Shocked maybe... when someone expressing an opposite opinion illicits this kind of national uproar.

Great example on gun control by the way, thats another hot subject and would have probably created a stir as well. The difference is that the media would have been hailing him as hero, and as a proud gun owner I would have still gotten a Chik Fil A sandwich if I had the urge for one. That would be his opinion and he is free to express it, whether I agree or not.

I won't buy the shirt and I won't eat there. Same as I don't support the Boy Scouts because of their stance on gays.

About the NRA thing. That would be a statement that would have a good reason to cause a backlash. Why? Because that would be unconstitutional and violate our freedom granted by the second amendment if something like that happened.

What he said i have nothing against. His comapny is based on Christian values.

But everyone blows it out of proportion and suddenly he is the bad guy. Yesterdays supporters were there because they are sick of this agenda getting pushed on them.

I am sorry but this topic disgusts me, its unnatural.
