Is this going around again? The story I read last year or so was for the 1st gen tacoma. If I remember, they caught a few guys who operated the ring. Maybe different guys this time.

Yeah, a steering wheel lock won't stop even a decent thief. Install a hidden kill switch. Kill ignition, fuel, or main power.

 

a detachable racing steering wheel would totally work.... and be badass. mise well get one with nos buttons on it since your already getting that bling

Install a second turnkey ignition somewhere hidden in the cab, fill the current ignition with JB Weld

 

This doesn't surprise me a bit in regards to the 'Yota key thing...

See this innoculous, seemingly random key ? Meet the holy graille of Toyota master keys, it wasn't intended or designed to be one , but it is because of the years of use & wear, this key (that was for my 1975 Celica) would not only unlock, but would turn the ignition switch in literally every Toyota model of the same year , up to years in the mid to late 80's, cars & TOYOTA TRUCKS !! I used to fuck with my friends sometimes that also drove Toyotas by moving their rides (only did this because of a few non believers saying I couldn't) Toyota followed Fords brilliant key design (they only had 2 designs) & never thought that after the keys wore down a little they'd easily unlock & start many models as well until they changed it.....

 

I heard police cars have a foot switch that has to be pressed in order to start the ignition.
