Definitely seems a bit high for not being 4 wheel drive. I paid 28k out the door when I got my 09 sport access cab 4x4 new back in 09.

I paid $23,990 for a 2012 prerunner access cab SR5, (with tow package, step bars, alloys) so that seems pretty high to me. Go check out the new ones, I talked them down almost $4k off the sticker price.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
I paid 24,900 for my 09 trd offroad access cab with 3,800 miles exactly a year ago, that price seems a litle high

    Stock for now
    Exactly.
Look for a leftover model unless colors & packages mean a lot more to you.
    No miles, full warranty.
I do not believe carfaxes unfortunately.
My old truck came up clean but had an accident fixed by the dealer.
    Never showed up on carfax.

husky liners, undercover tonneau, ome 885's, 2" aal, 265/75/16 duratracs.
At that price I would be buying new,

these trucks hold value very well but that price seems very high for 2wd access cab.

When I bought my 2012 I did not step foot into a dealership until I had the price in writing, what they would pay for my trade in and all associated fees.

I worked with four dealerships over a period of about a month so there is no need to play the dealership salesman games.

Start sending emails to various dealerships and be patient and ignore the bull about needing a phone number etc other than email I did not speak with any dealership until the day before I picked up my new tacoma.

This. I don't go to the dealership but to sign papers and write a check I always have everything done via email before hand.

Have to concur with the others in that the price seems a little high. dealers, or more concisely, the salesman, know tacomas sell well so their haggling range is tighter. i paid nearly $30K for mine new last year and it had to come from wisconsin (i'm in illinois) as what i was particularly seeking wasn't easily available, in part due to the tsunami........ anyway, interesting to see your departure from a F150 and all that entails.............:D

    only one way to know...

check kbb and see what they're going for. the used market is much harder to give an opinion on, and it varies regionally too.

I feel that KBB is run by dealerships. When using the internet as a negotiating chip, they ALWAYS pull out the KBB. Edmunds True Martket Value is a much better representation, IMO.

Thanks for the input. Got them haggled down to a price more in line with what yall said.

I know this will raise eyebrows, but I have to ask...any concern among anyone with buying an 09 with 29,000 miles? Buying used is always risky, I know.

Carfax shows no wrecks, one owner, etc., but you never know how that one owner maintained it.

Just been a long time since I've bought used, and I'm used to have my butt print the first one on the driver seat.

Guess I need assurance it's not all that risky for a Taco.

I usually try to grab used cars under 30k miles. If it's in good shape and at a good price, I say go for it. I have a 2012 now, but it is also used.

    Too few to list.
I hope you brought that price down a few grand. From what I can remember when I went with my cousin to buy a new 2009 AC off road, the sticker was close to $27K and brought it down to about $24K maybe less. I'm thinking maybe even $22-23 but I'll have to look at the contract.

I suggest find the trade in value for the truck you're looking at because more than likely the dealership paid less than that trade in value for that truck and negotiate a price from there.

Bought my 2010 Off-road 4x4 AC with 12k mi last year for $23k out the door at a local Toyota dealership. Original owner added a CAI, step bars, and exhaust... then traded it in for a Tundra. Almost 30k mi now and (knock on wood) haven't had any issues. You should be fine.

Update- I pulled the trigger and am back to a Taco! Very pleased with the deal. Sitting at the dealership waiting for my "complimentary" chrome step bars to be installed (yes, asked for them after the handshake). Pretty little Sport- will suit me much better than a full size truck.

I probably won't make too many mods but tint is a definite "first on my list".

I look forward to the interaction here and hopefully, I'll be able to make a worthwhile contribution or two!

(I'm on my iPhone so if this is illegible, that's why!). :)

Congrats and welcome back.........the factory tint is about 20% so if you are looking to match it like I did go with that.

Post some pics when you have a chance.....and although you wont be modding alot spend $1 like I did yesterday finally and put a hose clamp around your tailgate hinge. Keep the thiefs from taking it. That happens alot.
