Well, if someone is selling it for that, someone is buying it for that!

    Engines aren't cheap.

this is why i dont understand why more people do an engine swap. if they can get 3k for their engine and get an LS for ~3k. why not? they break even and say they have to spend 1k on install accessories. 1k vs 5k supercharger. and the LS would be more reliable HP.

I guess I have a different mind set from the LT section. lol, we put weight in the rear end for traction.

$3k is what A1 might get, not likely what OP can expect.

A1 parts depot might buy for $1800.

thats the price of a roll cage/bed cage bigger rear end and shackles or links depending on what you are doing and putting your spare tires in your bed... I mean you could do it lighter but youd probably kill yourself

Agreed, however look at it this way, take the average modder on this forum, they have a perfectly good truck with 30k miles ZERO issues. Now like you said, take out sell motor for 3k, buy LS, break even, spend 1-5k on fab and materials depending on if your a DIY or paying a shop or even 50/50.

Now factor in down time, any where from 1-6 months to sell motor for asking price, source a low mileage LS and transmission driveshaft/rearend.

Now another 1-6 months for fabrication, work out the bugs tune it, then not to mention get it legal.

Not a lot of people on here are willing to invest the money and most importantly TIME involved for that kind of swap.

I am by no means a fan of the S/C but you cant beat 5k out the door and 1-3 days without the truck for plenty of new power.

I was gonna do the same swap in my IS300 before it caught fire and burned to the ground. RIP

This is maybe why you dont see it more often here IMO.

Whipperderp was talking about weight. But it's not like an LT truck is trying to be über light anyways.

Ok gotcha, I was just lost as to what you were pointing out.

And I personally think 30 rough guess extra pounds for more then 200+ extra horse power is well worth it, just ask Speed Freak. He needs to chime in on this.

EDIT: "whipperderp" just caught that, Hilarious sir!!

I was thinking $1200-1500. My dad had to replace his Tundra motor after throwing a rod(turbo issues). He got one for $1200, $700 for install. I was just curious cuz I might buy 09 back that was totaled. Just seeing if its worth it.

Pretty sure he was not addressing you, or your truck, he was talking about the LT community, and seeing as he is also LT he is simply stating that he differs from the LT community in his mindset on power/weight ratio.

C'mon whippertwerp not every comment on every thread you take part in is directed at you. :der:
