I have a 2007 DCSB 4X4 Sport today. I love the truck. It's one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. It's in like new condition and I have no reason to replace it other than I like the 2012.

My truck is paid for and the dealer is offering me a great, no hassle package on the purchase and trade. The out of pocket cash could be as little as tax, tags, and title and still have a car payment that would be next to nothing.

Anyone with a 2012 who has a 2nd generation Tacoma have any thoughts, opinions, or reasons why I should or should not consider making the change?

Is the 2012 proving to be as good a vehicle as the earlier 2nd Gens or are there issues or conerns that have surfaced? All thoughts are welcomed.

    Yeah.
I traded my 2009 base 2WD DCSB for a 2012 TRD OR DCSB. I have to say that the quality of the 2012 is much better than the 2009. It could be because I had a base with only floor mats as an option, and now I have the fully-loaded 4WD TRD package. I had several minor issues with the 2009, nothing yet (5K miles) on the 2012, and it just feels more solid.

Right now is a good time -- new car prices are reasonable and trade-in values are high. I basically put 45K miles on my 2009, had it for 3 years almost, and only lost $2500 from what I paid for it.

Same here tenbeers. Had a 2008 dc. and traded it for a fully loaded 2012 trd sport and I love the 2012. I wasn't in the market but I traded BC I was just chatting with the Toyota guys and I got one with entune, payment went down 40 dollars, and got a free set of bfg rugged trail (cause I told them I wasn't buying one with the cheap dunlops), and a free bed mat....so I'm very happy

    Yeah.
@golfpro: LOL, yeah, Dunlops are a deal-breaker for me as well, but the OR comes with Rugged Trails. Not great, but miles ahead of Dunflops. I don't have Entune, but I like the radio it has.

How would you compare the quality? I definitely like the seats better, and just overall fit and finish is better than my 09.

I traded my 2010 Sr5 access cab for a 2012 dcsb sport. Mechanically it feels the same, however, the interior is much more refined and aesthetically pleasing. I really the inside trim package of my 2012. While they come in various color schemes, IMO the black floor and carpeting with the grey seats and accents look the best. If you can get a fair deal I say go with it.

I have had my 2012 DCSB for about seven months now and I am pleased with it. This is my first Tacoma so I can't really compare it to earlier versions but it is a nice truck. You can almost forget you are driving a truck because it is so smooth and solid. I know the radio in the 2012 is better than what came in the 2007s. Mine has bluetooth and ports for a USB drive.

I hated the two tone colors in my 2008. Tan and black. I hate tan and the seats had an ugly pattern so I covered them up with some seat covers. I think the interior is way better. There's a bunch of small things I like better, like the color matched black door handles instead of just flat black and color matched grill and bumper, the seats....etc. I'm still trying to sale the seat covers if anyone is interested....I don't want to see all that money go to waste.

The color matched grill, door handles, mirrors and bumper is the sport package, not because its a 2012. If you get a trd off road, Sr5 or base they well be either black or Chrome. I agree with you about the tan interior. I was never really a big fan. My last Tacoma had light grey carpeting..... That lasted living on the oregon coast ;)

Had a 2007 off road. Now I have a 2012 sport. It's a toss up. My 2007 seemed more solid to a certain extent. Same problems 5 model years later. Main complaint about my 2012 is the steering column. Just doesn't feel solid like my 07 did. But I'm taking it to the dealer this weekend. Well see what they can do.

Got your PM and replied. Thanks for the offer but you'd be surprised how well Tacomas hold their value.

    So here are the facts.

The MSRP on the truck I'm looking at is $35,240.
The dealer is discounting it $3K and change (about 9%).
They're giving me $18.5K in trade.
Subtracting the trade from the selling price saves me another $1.1K.

Need some feedback this evening. I'm thinking this is a pretty good buy. Comments?

That must be a fully loaded truck! I just bought a 2012 DCSB TRD Sport in May and the sticker on it was just over $31K (just across the river in northern VA)...and except for the fact that I did not get Entune, I though my truck was pretty loaded.

I traded in an '05 DCSB SR5 for it, so I definitely traded up as far as options go...and LOVE my new 2012. I will admit, though, that there's not a huge difference between the new one and my old one, other than about 120K miles. For me, I just decided it was time to get a new one, and that the use I was going to get out of my 2005 and the resale value I was going to get out of it was about at its peak.

    Yeah.
Wow, does it have leather or something? Mine was a pretty loaded TRD OR and sticker was barely over 33. Sounds like a decent deal, decent discount and good trade-in amount.

I just got this exact truck 3 days ago minus Entune Nav. I love it! I paid 30,800 + ttl. Entune adds about another 2k so in my opinion that seems like a good deal. BUT have you messed around with the regular radio? It is pretty awesome. I wanted entune at first but after checking out the base radio, it does pretty much everything (XM, play music from phone via blutooth and handsfree calls). I honestly think the entune isn't worth 2k. And if you MUST have navigation, you could go get a top of the line one for a grand and get some nice speakers with the rest and that will sound WAY better than the JBL.

    Just my 2 cents..

x2....navigation units will be the next piece of technology to go extinct because of smart phones.

You can do much better than $35 for that truck. They can print the window stickers out all day long, so there's no doubt they printed one with a jacked up price. Take the pricing that other posters have gotten on their recent purchases to the dealer and use those as a starting point.
