2009 Taco won't start, no codes, cranks

***Faulty part is on page 6***



As the title says, my 2009 (V6, Auto, TRD Sport) wouldnt' start this morning. After a few attempts it ran for about 10 seconds before dying, now won't start anymore.
-No codes are being thrown
-Battery is fine
-Relays are fine
-Fuses are fine
-No check engine light was on when I parked it last night
-Fuel pump is good


Any other trouble shooting thoughts?

 

does it crank over and not start or is it just not doing anything at all when you turn the key

Yes, I have 1/4 tank of gas.

Don't think it's the fob key, the flashing key symbol stops blinking when you put it in the ignition.

 

check to make sure the spark plug caps are on and nothing is loose

 

People have done dumber things

 

Did you try starting with the other key or valet key.

 

Had already been done. All is good and tight

Did you get a new key cut? Or using the same key as always?

 

Same key as always, pretty sure the key isn't the issue

 

If you get a new key cut somewhere, it won't be a chip key. It won't start without that chip key. If that's not issue then let's cross that off. Three things to start the engine- air, fuel and spark. Do you have all 3?

 

take off the gas cap could have vapor lock......

 

There I fixed it.

 

I have to assume it does since it ran for a few seconds a couple different times but then would die.

 

try the gas cap yours may be going bad wouldnt be the first or last time i seen this happen with something so simple.

 

If you checked all the essentials like it seemed you have, sounds like a starter disable malfunction but you'll need the other keys to rule that.

 

do you have a key fob ????

 

Take off your air filter and try again. Mine did this when it got far too dirty.

EDIT: When was your last service did they mention it?

 

I know she has the factory key. i need to know if she has power locks with a fob or after market fob.
