I am getting stuff together for color match and was wondering about what primer color to use. Black or red? Anyone have pics of the Barcelona Red color match that they did (letting me know which primer color you used)?

Ideas? I'm leaning towards red primer. Good reasons not to do red primer?

I did a fine sanding and painted:

    It has held up nicely.

What are you repainting? Is it a deep scratch? Unless there is a large portion of bare metal showing, I wouldn't worry about priming so much as proper surface preparation with sanding and cleaning.

I plan on color matching the grille, handles and mirror casing. So I figure I would use adhesive promoter and primer. So I want to know about what color primer to use. Red work?

Tail gate handle. Had to look at it closely. Nice touch, very clean.

How fine of a sanding did you do? A write up may be appreciated by off road series guys as a cheaper way than dealership color matched parts

When my truck got scratched all I saw was black on the bumper? So a grey would work. Does the primer color affect final color?

It will on lighter colored paints. With red you should be fine with gray or rust colored primer.

No primer ... plastic (tailgate handle) ... light sanding ... a few coats ... some wet sanding (400 grit) ... clear coat.

I got some rust colored primer, so I just want to make sure that I don't need to return it and get grey.
