Out of the colts, springfields, dan wesson, Sig, S&W, Wilson, STI, and other 1911s I've owned, sent to custom shops and used, the best and worst of the lot have both been Kimber.

My favorite 1911 is my Kimber TLE II It has performed flawlessly since day one out of the box.. I special ordered it when it was announced, and cut the seal on the box myself. I can count the failures this one has had over 7k rounds in the double digits, most of them due to bad ammo. It has since been tossed through Wilson Combat's catalog and the internals went through after the 5k mark.

The Worst, Is a Kimber Match with the external extractor. It was one of the most finicky, awful to shoot, heavy triggered POSes I've ever had. After repeated trips to Kimber, I gave up on it and swapped it to a guy who wanted it because it was pretty and said he could fix it... (Swapped for a Sig)

Although I believe they have improved since the MIM debacle and QC issues, I really doubt I'll own another one. I've since abandoned the 1911 platform for daily carry, as there are much more reliable and lighter defensive arms out there.

I currently sport a M&P VTac 9mm. ...I am one of those guys who used to claim 9mm was for women and pansies.

A 1911 can be one of the most accurate handguns out there if you have the money to make it that way. They require lots of love to keep in top shape. It's just not worth it unless you are a Grand Master unlimited shooter for competition with all the other fine platforms out there.

I couldn't agree with ya more on the last sentence... I don't have 15 years behind the gun... But The more research you do and the more shooting you do the better understanding behind the gun you have... And for me at least you can tell when people have the need to dick measure ( at least at my range) just because you have certain firearm... And forget the joy and recreation that you are doing lol...just my 2 cents

I think that owner has his/her own gun confused with a Professional.

Is it the extended mag? I noticed the extended mags come with 2 gap spacers and you have to pick the one that works with the backstrap you choose. Not sure if the XDS comes with an extended mag or not.

I think I may need to make a trip to Auburn... TRP with Rail and the black/grey grips are definitely on my "to buy" list

And one of these lil XDs- VVV

Not on Cali list but there must be a 1-shot exemption or something available

You have a Mil-Spec Operator, not the TRP Operator.

I'm sure you could find one. We don't currently have a barrel to do the SSE on the XDs, and I'm not sure if there is gonna be one made.

    We can single shot:
    Glock Gen4
    Smith & Wesson M&P Pro
    Smith & Wesson Bodyguard
    Diamondback DB9
    Diamondback DB380
    Springfield XDm

We just got 1911 barrels in, but are working on a way to finalize the single shot on those badboys. Probably have it done within a week or so.

I think I've narrowed my choice down to the M&P shield or Walther PPS. How did you like the shield?

Incredibly easy to shoot. Seriously I have frog feet for hands and it felt great and ran real well. Just picking it up I was CoM al day with it the first time I tried it. Never tried the PPS so I couldn't tell you how it does. Walther is basically like a discount HK so I would imagine it runs pretty well.

I just got to shoot the Super Blackhawk for the first time this afternoon. I will wear gloves next time. My hands are fairly tough and plenty callused from work, but after 15 rounds, my palm is tore open from the recoil. SWEET!

Day off, so I loaded 150 rounds of 38 Spl for my S&W Model 64. 158 gr plated HP over Bullseye. The brass cases are loaded lighter for targets and plinking, and the nickel rounds have half a grain more in them for when it pulls duty as a truck and trail gun. Police trade-in 10s and 64s are one of the really good deals out there right now. I got a great deal on mine in basically unfired condition.

I don't save much with the pistol rounds. 45 and 38 costs me about 15 cents/round, plus my time. I save almost a buck a round when loading my match 308 loads, so that's how I justify it. That, and being able to load ammo to my exact specifications, makes it worthwhile to me.

Yes, I realize that, however even the TRP's didn't cost more than maybe $1100-1200 at the time.

Front strap checkering, a bull barrel, and a Bomar rear sight doesn't make it much more valuable. The Mil Spec should be more now a days actually. The front strap is still open for your grip treatment of choice, way more sight and barrel options.

I worked for a gun shop too.

Check out the SIG 1911s. I just picked up a Carry (4.2" barrel) for $891. It's every bit as good as the poor Kimber I blew up in a match (squib loads are hell in fast strings) and about $300 cheaper. The fronstrap checkering makes a lot of difference in how stable the gun feels, and the trigger is pretty impressive for a midrange gun.
