i agree that its good she stood up for her beliefs and it was wrong for her to be persecuted for said beliefs. but there are gay churches where gay people get married under their gay beliefs in front of their gay jesus that the others get married in front of...so its not like they set fire if they cross the thresh of a church door. if close minded people dont choose to accept that gays were wired that way by their same god when they were created kind of seems like a slight against their god, does it not? he created them all, so saying that they are wrong means they are saying that he is wrong....sounds like bad jojo to me

I agree dude, and they have their every right to have their own church's, i mean, its just different beliefs...we all have them.... and i have to admit i dont have a lot of information about the subject.... I just think that legally should be allowed, religious beliefs should never be pushed to other people....

So we're free to accept gays, but not free to reject them?

well they read the same bible and pray to the same god...there are no different beliefs. the problem comes in where MAN wrote the bible and MAN translated the bible and MAN takes their own versions of the fables from it.

Interesting discussion thus far, civil too.A friend of mine who is gay one time put it in this perspective for me......He said that when he hears people referring to homosexuality as being a "lifestyle choice",it frustrates him.Who in their right mind would make a choice to either live their life in shame and secrecy or potentially face being ostricized from much of society including your own family. Not to mention the potential of verbal and physical assaults, the simple fact of the matter is that Gays just do not enjoy the basic human rights that straights do and that includes the bonds of marrige and the benefits afforded by it.

Any gay couple I have ever known were kind, loving, honest hard working and faithful to one another.I've known an awful pile of straights that were anything but.

What impact does it have on me or my family if the two guys next door are in love and legally married?

I pick my friends, I choose my beliefs, consequently I judge. And I will be judged.

then you are only picking and choosing the stories from the bibe that seem to fit ur needs at the time and disregarding the ones where you disagree as a person. doesnt sound like too stable of a religion if its right for everyone to take wht they like and remove the rest

my mother is married to another woman and came out a few years after my father died. she always knew she was lesbian, but loved my father none the less. my step mother is an ordained minister, author, radio host, and rights activist. like you said, its not the gays that are causing issues and trouble in this world

That's just incorrect. The bible often discusses who is the ultimate judge, but it in fact does not prohibit an individual from passing judgement, what it says is that "your judgement will be judged by the Lord". Thus, you should follow His teachings.

Gays are God Parents to my children. They are wonderful people, but I do NOT condone their sexual conduct and I would never consider them as the same as me because they cannot (will not) procreate. They are physiologically different than I am. I would be lying to myself if I thought different.

I don’t understand why a personals physiology has any thing to do with mirage. It's like telling a heterosexual couple who don’t plan on having kids they can’t get married.

So if you don't plan on having kids you shouldn't be allowed to get married?

And getting back to the original discussion about the pagent contestant......As I said, she should have been allowed to express her views without negative effect just like we are here.

Here is a quote from Voltaire that I always think of in times like these:

"I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."

gays have the same anatomy as you and CAN precreate. there are plenty of gay couples that use their sperm or eggs to make children. by your theories, gays and lesbians are completely infertile

hell, look at the divorce rate. its what, over 50% now...over half the hetero's cant get it right, so i dont think gays can do any worse
