Hello, I'm thinking of getting a used double cab 4X4, probably an 09,10 or '11. A few questions, any differences or changes in them over those years, or have they essentially remained unchanged over that period? Any know issues? I used to drive Frontiers for 10 years and loved them, then switched to a Murano for a year, primarily for the improved gas milage since I drive about 25,000 miles year (mostly highway). Murano's great, but I'm not loving it and I'm missing a 4 door truck. I always liked the Tacoma, but ended up with the Frontier because I was offered a better deal.
Are the exterior dimensions the same (tight garage, I sized out a 4 door Tacoma, short bed, a few years ago and it just barely fit)
    Thanks

A 2010 or 2011 used is going to cost ya. Unless you find a dealer with a new 2011 they are stuck with. Good luck and welcome.

The 2nd gen tacoma hasn't had any major changes since the day it came out. Some minor ones include atrac, backup mirror etc. And the taco is way better than a frontier!

I went back to a Taco last week, after having two F-150's. Before those, I had an 09 Double Cab. BIG mistake giving it up. Missed it immediately.

I just got a used 09 Access Cab Sport with about 25,000 miles and it looks brand new (of course, the huge dealership did an immaculate detailing on it).

I got a very, very good deal on it (one of the few times in my 59 years I didn't drive away feeling I got screwed).

I may keep this for the rest of my years, or if not, I may not ever buy new again (I'm talking Toyota here, of course!) :)

That's kind of the news I was hoping to hear. Hoping to be able to work a decent deal and trade in and purchase price of Tacoma, Murano's only 1 year old. lower mileage '09 would be fine. '10 or '11 will be more expensive, but I'm thinking this is a vehicle I'll keep until I drive it into the ground so I'm willing to invest a little more up front.

some of the 05 Tacoma 's had issues with cracked engine mounts, they were beefed up on the later ones. Also the common blower motor squeak was finally fixed on the 2012's. the early 2nd gen's also had a weak tailgate, they were later fixed with stiffeners. Welcome OP:wave:

make sure to do your research before buying one a year or two old. In alot of cases, you can get the dealer to come down $3,000 - $3500 on a new one and it will basically cost you the same as new.
