The thing is, I don't thing something clogged in the oil pump ways or anything.

The thing was making a whine noise, something like a pulley issue. Didn't do that all the time, but started like 4 days before that black day. It would eventually get louder when I accelerate and even louder when the truck had more than 30minutes running.

But, turn it off, waited a few minutes, restart the truck and the noise was gone. Would eventually reappear minutes later, again quieter getting louder while the minutes go.

When I traveled to miami, the truck was fine, didn't make any noises for about 180miles. Then started doing it, really loud.

I drive a v6 because I don't need to tow, and If what I want is to smash a pedal and go fast, I get my benz out for a ride. I apologize if I didn't explain in these kind of details.. Didn't thing I'd need to.

The heaviest thing I towed is a sofa I bought months ago. My truck was used to carry my bike and my bicycles from time to time, go to the beach, things like that. Engine was never put under a extreme effort.

That maybe it. lets say that noise was oil pump, which is possible because oil pump is not fixed to crankshaft (only sandwiched between pulley and timing gear) So if you stop pump from rotating it will slipp on the crankshaft. (making horrible pulley like noise) Now question would be why it was slipping
    1. Crankshaft bolt was loose
    2. Filter you had was clogging out and would not let oil through thus creating high pressure and stopping pump.
    3. Pickup line was clogged and pump could not get oil thus creating vacuum and stop rotating. (considering on and off nature this is very plausible)
    4. You had something that whent inside the pump that preventing from rotating which is unlikely because screen on the bottom of pickup line should prevent it.

Bottom line your pump did not fail it could not get/push oil. If you never loosen that crankshaft bolt my money is on bad filter or suction line clogged with some garbage.
Either way dealer ows you an engine. You just need to find a problem and prove it to them. Good luck and please post back with the fidings. Make sure you have trusted mechanic watching when they open engine and take plenty of video and photos for proof. There is no way you should be paying for engine.

    Not misplaced... omitted.
Even if they only had an idiot light on the dash, if they would have at least included an actual oil pressure sensor, with a DTC and possibly even "limp home" mode or engine shutdown triggered based on a pressure/RPM/TPS table, it would help eliminate problems like this.

Hard to see in the picture, but it looks like oil sludge inside the broken block. If so it looks like oil starvation from sludge buildup. Can you get a closer picture or wipe your finger inside the block hole? It sure looks like sludge from the picture you posted.

I'm just a bit confused, no offense to the OP but as you said you have "above average in mechanic" so shouldn't you have realized the first LOUD thunk, clank sound you heard was VERY WRONG, and stopped/shut engine off immediately?

But you continued to drive and scratch your head wondering "wus dat"?

I think your "mechanic knowlege" is a bit sub-par to what you say.

To the video you posted sounds like a combination of piston meets valve with a side of snapped rod.

    Good luck too ya though.

BS! I have never seen a Toyota with anything other than a Toyota filter from any dealer. If the dealer did so they would probably have their francise revoked.

Ive done mechanic work all my life, every oil pump I have ever seen has a screen on the pick-up tube preventing anything large enough to stop up the pump/oil tubes from ever being picked up by the pump. Oil pumps are simply 2 gears, not much to fail in the pump itself. I have seen pumps loose pressure over many miles (like over 100K) but rarely fail themselves.

Dude. My truck was HAULED to my home, I started it up and stick it to techstream to see if I see any error message or any fails running live tests. Nothing happened but the engine blew anyways.

here are more detailed pictures of the inside of the engine. No serious sludge to what I can see. just some irregular surfaces caused by the blown piston.
