Leo's and others, wanting opinion on Pepper spray.

Yeah...I vote a light caliber handgun over anything else. The sound of something cocking/being racked will make a fair chunk of folks reconsider their current situation. Gunfire will do same thing for most of the rest and light weight bullets won't get to far...

I've been sprayed, watched and given spray training to 100's of folks in the past 4 years and I've seen far too many folks who were immune or had light reactions. I'm a white guy with light eyes-That's supposed to be about the worst you can get for OC reactions- and I was a Mild to Moderate case- I could have defended myself just fine.

At work-my partner knew that I would 100% of the time pull my baton over my OC.

 

My girlfriend has this pepper spray that shoots out at 90mph (it's what was advertised) and it's supposed to be almost as bad as getting shot. When she gets home, I'll post the brand of the pepper spray. It looks intimidating and it's almost as big as a 22 cal. pistol. haha

 

im a amature kick boxer, it takes months hell years of practise to get good at it

 

I am a 4th degree in Aikijujutsu, been at it for almost 18 years now she was with me for 5 of those years and knows a bit but is panicky, unable to think straight. My daughter is 4 and practices with me.

Its a combination of Aikido-Judo-Karate. Not in that order and it is all done at one time. You must be hard first so you get exposed to Karate and judo first, followed by Aikido. Karate is kicking and punching. Judo is throwing the opponite. Aikido is the manipulation of their body and energy to direct it in a way you want.

That is great. I am a Ni-dan in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu and a San-Dan in Aikido. I have also done a little Praying Mantis Kung Fu BUT the best training I ever got was good old fashion boxing. That is where you learn to take a punch. All those MMA fighters are great inside the ring but remember you fight how you learn. Those guys learn to fight with rules, in the real world, there are NO rules. It is Survival...at all costs. It is great for women to have a martial arts background however, that isn't enough when surprised and confronted by an attacker hell bent on harming you.

That is exactly correct. I dare I say it hate those MMA fighters on TV. I have gone a round or 2 with some of the guys you have seen on the series and damn they suck and normally have months or a few years of training. Plus the stick to a handful of moves and don't have what they call a real arsenal. I can make you real good a 3 moves in 5 months but there is always what if, that will F you up. The perfect fight training is bar fights. I also hold a brown belt in Ki training. You know the crazy shit as I have heard some call it. Punched in the throat, kicked in the groin, choked with belts. Having control of your ki is great allows you to do all sorts of things. I am 5'7" and used to take 3 steps and kick a basketball rim.

The write up's in the gun magazines have been positive on this product. Like Chris said, these products don't work on everyone, especially the druggies and chances are that is what will break into your house. If the gun is out this would be a good option, back it up with a xenon flash light and a baseball bat though.
