ScanGaugeII Info

I just checked out the ScanGuage website. That this seems pretty awesome.

Could you guys give me some feedback?
Is it worth it?
What do you guys think of yours?
Also, where do you mount yours?

 

I like mine. For now it is mounted on top of my steering column. I want to relocate it to the area above my rear view mirror sometime though. Brackets are available to do so if you want.

Definitely get one bud! I love mine and not only do I like all the info it gives me, but by watching my real time mpgs I have been able to increase my mileage by an average of 3-4!

 

I love mine and I'm constantly looking at it. It's definately worth it. Not only for all the stuff it does -but the fact it's a OBD code reader. I can take it out of my tacoma and plug it into any of my other vehicles to pull codes if I need to.

 

I use mine every time I use the truck.
Thanks to the tips here, I chose to velcro my scangauge on top of the rear view mirror using everything that came in the box.
15 minutes tops with a flat blade screwdriver.

blendmount? you don't need no stinkin' blendmount!

 

Thanks for the ideas. I took a look at my mirror and I don't think that the Blendmount will work. I noticed that all of the people using them have 08 or older trucks. The 09 mirror post is shaped differently due to the backup camera. Maybe velcroing it to the mirror would work....

 

FYI I've got an '09 and the Blendmount worked just fine

 

i need some help with mine. im obviously slow on figuring this out. i cant get my scanguage to read right. my mpg is really really low according to the scanguage and it should not be. i double check with my mileage at fillups and its around 18-19. can someone maybe walk me through the steps you have to do to set it up? and what do you have to do at fillups? oh and please excuse my ignorance haha

 

When you fill up hit the home key (lower right button)

Hit the more button

Hit the fill up button


It will display what it thinks you just put in, hit either right or left button to increase or decrease the display until it shows what you really did put in.

Hit the done button

Now you will see how much the fuel cost per gallon, just adjust like above and hit save

 

so it needs to read what i actually put in not what it takes to be 100%??

 

Did you set the correct engine and tank size when you first hooked it up?


As far as adjusting the amount of gas that you actually put in versus what it thinks you did is to teach the scangauge what you are actually using to make the information like tank to empty numbers accurate.

Mine has only gone through a several fill ups but it gets closer every time I fill it up.

 

where is everybody getting them from and how much $$$$.they look really nice.

 

I just got mine, and did the first fill up. out of the box it is showing 21ish mpg on the highway.

Questions I have are for the following settings;

MORE>SETUP>FUEL>CUTOFF

The readings does go to 9999 MPG, so I assume the default of 24 is wrong. Anyone know what it should be?

the cut off value is the throttle position number ( percent open or reletive number - it really does not matter) at which the scangage cosiders the injectors closed to idle. When the SG is showing 9999 it is essentially ignoring whatever is going on with the vehicle at that time and no computations are taking place (at least that is my understanding)

Here is what i did:
Set one of your gages to TPS (that is the throttle open position) and note what it is when the truck is warmed up and ilding nomally ( no fast warm up idle, etc) - mine is 14.

Then set the cutoff value (home - more- setup-fuel) to 15 or 16. this way the 9999 will probably never show up and you will be accounting for the milage when coasting down from whatever speed with the throttle at a reduced setting.

With these settings I am within less then 0.1 mpg between the SG and very careful hand computed values.
BUT - I use the SAME pump, at the SAME station, I insert the nozzel the SAME amount each time, and I try to fill at the SAME time during the day.
Anal, I know, but it is a computer and at best it works on the "garbage in - garbage out" principle.

 

ok well im still having problems. when i get to the fillup menu and toggle right to put in normally my 18 gallon fillup, the percent number below is sky high to like %400. so my mpg is still way off. any suggestions?
