Are there any fun trails at the lake or is it kind of just messing around and swimming after sort of trip?

There's quite a bit of land to wheel around out there. And its nice having the water close by that you can literally drive right up to on most spots. You just have to watch out for muddy washouts. Everytime i've gone i've seen some dipshit with his procomp lifted full size thinking he's cool w/ his rockstars but this lakebed is a straight sinker. So stay outa the mud.

You also have to be aware that "Wheeling" is not allowed at Folsom Lake. If you happen to crawl over stuff to get to where you are going that is fine, but they will come out and hassle you if they see you climbing over the same obsticle over and over again. Doing donuts in the mud/sand will bring them out pretty quick too. My boss has been ticketed for "wheeling" out there and lots and lots of people have gotten warnings. In the winter they don't watch as closely.

Dude I was out at Folsom yesterday. Strictly on the water though... I'm bringing my mountain bike next time I think. Yeah, definitely neat little areas to explore.

Salmon falls is amazing, those are my most favorite single tracks of all time I think. I have yet to explore the west side of the lake which ironically is where we put the boat in everytime, so I'll be checking that out soon. It looks waaay more casual than Salmon falls area but thats ok.

Just keep going straight on the main road once you enter the park at the Granite bay section. Then follow the signs for Dotons point.

Yeah its more flat, salmon falls is no doubt fun, too many hikers for me though. Downieville and northstar is IT for me as far as single tracks go. The only hikers you see there are the ones too affraid to ride they're shit down an obsticle.

so, my truck got broken into last night. wallet, 2 hunting knives, and a girls dolce and gabbana sunglasses stolen. For some reason they didnt take my binoculars, 20$, or other kinfe i had in there. so, if any of yall get spare time, check craigslist periodically for a benchmade knife, or a buck knife, both fixed blades. BM has a ruberized handle and blade is stainless, and the buck has wood handle and is stainless as well. PM if you see anything, so i can contact the popo and do it right.

Yeah you should, there's easier stuff at northstar for the beginners but it's definately the best spot around imo. I like to put on the 3" wide front tire for northstar.

Downieville is 17 miles of downhill madness. Its great if you wanna make a weekend out of it to camp at the top and do runs all weekend.

Drive up to Pollock sometime and ride around Sly Park Lake (counter-clockwise is better IMO). While you do have to put up with hikers periodically (depending on the day of the week or season), it's a good 8 mile ride. Almost constant up and down.

For a hard ride with a long uphill, and then a long downhill, take trail 8 on the Fleming Meadow Trailhead (may or may not even see a hiker on it). Again, go counter-clockwise on it (I have it lightly highlighted on the attached map from when I rode it). Just beware it is a huge elevation gain up until 3 miles (good views up top), but what goes up must come down.:D Park just across the 2nd dam and you can catch either trail.

The lake isn't and I don't think the other place is either. If you want a fun dirt bike area you should head to the grizzly flats area. Take a road named Caldor into the El Dorado National Forest. I used to ride out there all the time. A lot of nice trails that anyone could do as well as a few more technical hill climbs and trails. If you head there during the winter you can mess around in the snow if you climb some of the trails that lead uphill. I've never had as much fun on my dirt bike then I did the day we went up there and rode through trails stacked with 3 feet snow.
