Has anyone secured their front removable cup holders so they don't come out very easily? I'm wondering if there are any ideas on how to secure them, but keep them removable for cleaning. My cups and bottles keep getting stuck since it is a flexible rubber, and the cup holder comes out with the cup. It can be a nuisance while going down the road at night because you can't see it to square it back up.

just replaced mine with the older plastic cup holder (2008 and prior I think). Plastic insert that you can adjust to the width of your drink.

Lost track of the number of times I've had to chase my commuter cup across the floor because of that POS.
I learned VERY quickly to close the lid on that cup when I put it down.

The thing just needs more tension or some kind of lock.

I remember this from my '08; That thing actually worked really good... well, better than these annoying rubber things that go flying everytime you grab your drink.

Should track down one... putting that on my list.

Does anyone know for sure if you can replace the 2 removeable cupholders for 2012 tacomas with an adjustable one (oem) and if so the part number. Would like to fit larger cups as well as the problem with them always pulling out. Have seen pictures of earlier years but they look like they wouldn't fit. thanks, mcdee

OP, I got fed up like you and bought self-adhesive velcro and stuck a piece on the bottom of each holder and the basin...now it stays put...well...90% of the time instead of 20% of the time. lol

I've noticed this too, especially with large bottles like Gatorade. I wonder if some of that stick on Velcro would help hold them in place. I'll have to give it a try.

I just ordered the cup holder for the 2009 and older Tacos and sold the rubber ones here on TW.

    Wow

I am surpassed! I love the removable cup holders!

Mine rarely come out with my drink. And I put drinks in and out of those countless times a day..

Also, I love that for a real fat drink (those short stubby Gatorade bottles), I just pull the cup holder out and throw it in the back seat and put the drink right in the opening, it doesn't move and works great.

Also, I see a great place for other inserts to be built in. I have contemplated building a number of things to replace one of those cup holders. Some being things such as iPod docks.

I found this for the earlier model trucks. I wonder if it will fit the 2012 model after removing the rubber cup holders.

It did for me with my 2011. I had the same rubber inserts as you in mine and traded them here on TW with someone who had the earlier model. Works fine now for me and I have heard no complaints from the other party.

exact reason why I don't use my center console holders anymore, instead I use the door holders. Gonna have to track down some pre 09 holders as well.

Those are awesome, the only cupholders that will hold a big gatorade.
