Yes its the 4.7, pretty excited about it. I like shorter wheel base vehicles, shame the single cab tacoma isn't available with the 4.0. Would be the best build platform I could think of. I love the one TC built.

I cut the stock fenders and flairs with a jig saw, can't cut as much out of the back because of the passenger door, door jams, etc but should be able to trim a little more back there and bump the axle to framerail with the 35's according to some preliminary measuring, ha. Positive thinking.

That deal is OK if they are in excellent condition and do not need a rebuild.
But if they need a rebuild I would not do it or bargain with the guy for a better price.

soo iff i could talk him down to 500 then it would be alright? and to check if it needs a rebuild i should compress and extend the shocks and check for any soft spots right?

yes, if you have the shaft pointing up, when it's fully extended and you push down on it, it should have a constant resistance on it the whole way down. If its low on oil(from a leak) there will be no resistance felt at the very top due to an air pocket in it.
Now this doesn't help you tell if the oil is low, just that they haven't been leaking

$500 is more reasonable for sure if they are in good condition.
Check if any oil is on the shafts, also when you compress it. Also take a good look to see the shaft is not bent or anything.
More than likely if they are smoothies they could be a mall crawler vehicle so probably not too beat up

Save your money for some used bypass shocks, cause smoothies on leafs suck, that's why they got swapped out after one trip. Seriously people if you are spending money to LT your truck and run leafs in the rear, running smoothies over bypass shocks is the worst place to try save some money.
