Should i be worried?

    So i've noticed when i start my tacoma the enigine makes a ticking noise that sounds louder than it should be maybe, is it the valve something?? Should i be worried? Anyone know the best way to check if everythings normal...Thanks

    did you check your oil level? im not a huge internal mechanic so hopefully someone else pipes in. but first thing check your fluid levels.

    sounds like normal taco tick, i agree though id check your oil to be sure

    I believe the ticking is air pockets leaking from your 3rd head gasket. You need to submerge the engine in order to pin-point the leak. Best way would be driving into a lake (Still water) head first until the engine is fully underwater. Or you could lower your truck in with a crane. Once you find the leak "Obviously" pull it out of the lake. Then use puddy to fill in the leak fallowed by a new TRD sticker and you should be good to go! :D

    :cookiemonster: actually i believe minor ticking is normal, you could just be realizing it there for being a little paranoid. ;)

    i havent heard a taco that didnt tick. i wouldnt worry about it.

    if the oil is full, the ticking is just a normal byproduct of the toyota 4.0L
    so just :burnrubber:

    IIRC, I read another post on TW, they said it is the valvetrain operation and injectors, mine has some ticking, its always the same steady sound, you can't hear it inside the cab though.

    search 'engine ticking" and read the numerous other threads for yourself.

    You will find just about every topic has been covered in here because these trucks have been in production for 7 years with little changes.

    It justs seems alot louder than it should be :confused: anyone know worst case scenario?
