True. After it spun about 1000 miles off the tires, and the 386 processor in the A-Trac finally processed "apply brakes". I'll keep my tread.

you're looking at things as if the cup is half empty..i see things as if he were spinning the tires purposely to warm up the tread to get the knobular knobbies "sticky"..:p

If you get the 4x4 you can never use snow as an excuse to miss a work day. You'll have to decide if that is a downside or not.....

All the SUVs you might consider will be technically better than a Tacoma. 4Runner, FJ, Wrangler. All have coil rear, which has a better ride but costs more and less able to haul weight. The Toyota products will weigh more and cost more. The 4Runner will be much better on road than a Tacoma and a Wrangler much better offroad. The FJ will be the closest in performance but I did not like the blind spots and interior layout. A multilink coil rear is just a better design than a leaf spring rear when money and hauling weight sre not an issue.

Again, what we have here is a failure to communicate...

Toyota does not offer a front locker.

A-TRAC provides traction assist on the front, and is the best product yet offered on the Tacoma from the factory.

I had a hard time reading the text on the above video, so I wasn't sure which one was all lockers and which used the A-TRAC. What I did see, is that BOTH vehicles made it through. If A-TRAC saves you $2000 and keeps your warranty valid over buying an aftermarket front locker, then I choose A-TRAC. If not, then I would get a front locker over an open differential. Where I go, I want the security of knowing I can get in and out without another vehicle to assist. The A-TRAC Tacoma gives me that security.

Lol..I have assisted a few atrac vehicles to get through a difficult section either by strapping, wenching or by convincing the driver to momentarily turn off the feature just so they can make it through. But never has an atrac vehicle assisted me. I also think Jasmine has posted an itemized list proving that equipping a base sr5 with front/rearARB will be cheaper then buying a trd offraod as a whole..but you chosen to ignore that little tidbit in the past..a few times that it was mentioned. So again, your arguing points are invalid. Something we do agree on for the Ops sake is that getting a 4wd vehicle makes more sense. :cookiemonster:

    Have a great day!
